2024 pre-season discussion: Pre-season Premiers

What a great season this was. Felt like the watching the Soprano’s. Got attached to all the characters, highs and lows, they killed off a few main characters in Flegler, Herbie and Palasia, Oates gets betrayed and then just when you think everything is going to be alright the screen goes black and your left feeling like you got punched in the stomach.

Fantastic script this season.

Please....I loved The Sopranos.

Don't ruin that for me as well.........leave me something that brings joy to my life.

It's almost suspicious - but then again, how the **** would you cheat at not dropping the ball?
They don't drop it because they don't fatigue... anyone else get lance Armstrong vibes or am i just bitter and clutching. But listen to all the commentary about they're fitness, comparitive lack of injuries, speed of recovery from injuries, trips overseas for treatment etc. The amount of commentary around this is up there if you tune into it, but it seems to come from a perspective of awe rather than suspicion.

If I have one critique of Cobbo it would be his defensive decisions. His one play seems to be the intercept. He's ok on cover defense, but directly vs his winger he really doesn't do well. I don't know I'd trust him defending at centre...
He was quite good in his rookie year and completely shut down Bradman Best from the centres.

I'm not sure if that edge and the decisions that get made can be completely put on Cobbo either.

Staggs can be quite erratic when it comes to decision making from centre so we dont know how much communication is happening out on that edge.

Communication is potentially not Cobbo's strong suit either, but I dont recall him being a complete liability from centre in his rookie days (and he played a few games there that year as well), so I have hope that he could be quite effective out there

Half the time they score down his side it's because he's well out of position.

I can't handle wingers that aren't chained to their wing. The fact he can sometimes show up on the opposite side of the field, without a change being made to position him there, shits me to absolute tears more than anything else this team does.

When you add Walsh and the way he positions himself up the back (not amazingly most of the time), it's always going to leak points.

This team has shown that they can use a brutal end to the season (2022) to fuel them effectively for the next season (2023).

The only thing that can stop us being a great team again is injuries.

We are going to be a very motivated team next year.

1. First & foremost, I would want our coaching team to stick around and learn from the experience they just had.
2. I’m not sure if Briers is contracted for next season. If not, he should b out extended.
3. Some sort of mind or psychology coaching to the squad
4. Ball control, double/triple up in defense, no silly errors.
5. I would love to know Willison & Baker put in the hard work to develop their skills and game. They should be in a position to compete with the rest of the squad to be in the 17.

Did the presentation awards night happen, did I miss it? Or did they delay it

TC can finally be named:

Not sure what I was doing wrong all those years ago, but I could never talk a chick into stepping into the dunnies at a nightclub for a bit of stink finger....lord knows I certainly gave it a good try.

Must have been the lack of $$profile$$ I had compared to footy players.......
