OFFICIAL Adam Reynolds will join the Broncos in 2022

Incoming reports indicate Adam Reynolds will sign a three-year deal with the Broncos worth approximately $2.25 million by the end of the week. That's $200,000 less than the Sharks offered, but will include the captaincy. Thank Wayne Bennett for swaying that, apparently. Reynolds is reported to have already told his team mates he's leaving.

Nicho Hynes signature is likely to follow.

Story has high confidence. Expecting announcement tomorrow.

Damien Cook:

“I have had a chat with him where I’ve asked him to stay, he’s a big reason why I came to the club in the first place, because he was the halfback. Is it a cruel part of our game where you can’t keep everyone? It is. But we’ll see what happens.”

Reynolds’ manager Steve Gillis:

“Not once has Adam said to me I don’t want to move to Queensland, it’s not a barrier at all for him. People just assume because he has four kids, he won’t want to move, but Adam is open to moving. Adam wants the security of a longer-term deal certainly. There’s no point signing one-year deals if you plan on playing for three or four more years. He will get a three-year deal wherever he chooses to go, he is 30 years of age and Benji Marshall (Souths teammate) has shown playmakers can play until their mid-30s.”

Meanwhile, the Sharks are rumoured to be considering Anthony Milford instead. But that's more speculation based on who else is coming to market than anything solid.

Hooper got a bit trigger happy namedropping other targets of ours, including Hynes, Gagai and Su'a. I would be going after Hynes and Gagai if that is actually who we're fighting for. I can't see where Su'a fits into this side if TPJ is staying in the 2nd row and Riki is in line to replace Glenn. With the likes of Bullemor and Piakura coming through, I just don't see the need for him. It's salary cap better spent elsewhere, in particular at Hooker.

1. Hynes
2. Isaako
3. Farnworth
4. Gagai
5. Oates
6. Staggs
7. Reynolds (c)
8. Haas
9. Turpin
10. Lodge
11. Riki
12. TPJ
13. Carrigan

14. Bullemor
15. Kennedy
16. Flegler
17. Piakura

18. Asiata
19. Copley

I tell you what, going into 2022 that looks like a damn good squad, or at least an excellent starting point. The idea of Reynolds playing behind the likes of Haas and Pangai is mouth watering. He won a premiership with Souths in 2014 behind the Burgess brothers ffs. The only players I think would have question marks hanging over them by the end of next year is Turpin and Flegler. Luring Hynes up here also puts us in a much better position to grab Cheese as well.

Isaako is a tough one. The received wisdom is he'll go back to the wing to make way for a fullback who lacks his deficiencies. The trouble with that is what he does have going for him - like that best in class side step - will be wasted out there, and if he comes in looking for the ball, sure as **** he'll let in tries. Maybe it's worth trying him out in Stagg's vacant centre position during the off season.

Whatever the case, he would have to make way for Hynes.

Great change of pace to have some good news.
Pretty stoked about this.

See ya Dearden/Coates.

I'm okay with at least trying it but who comes onto the wing for Coates? Gagai maybe but he got absolutely worked over by JAC on the weekend which would be concerning.

I guess Niu, 'Milford' and Isaako would all be in consideration. It'll be interesting to see if Kevvie can find a use for Karmichael Hunt this season. I suspect he might be on the assistant coaching staff next year.

I can see him going really well in 2022, and it ending in tears come 2024.

There must be a reason Souths won't budge on 1yr deal./

Souths cap is about to crash and burn unless they clear some of the roster.

It all depends o.n 5/8.

I don’t think you can accomodate Staggs and Isaako in the same spine because there is too much a lack of ball playing, and too high a focus on running. Reynolds isnt a JT - he doesn’t provide that many try assists.

However a ball pllaying 5/8 like SJ, Milf or Drinkwater (I know he’s off the table) would accomodate Isaako well.

1. Isaako (running game)
6. Johnson (quick feet, playmaker)
7. Reynolds (organiser)
9. Turpin (dirty work)

vs

1. Hynes (quick feet, playmaker)
6. Staggs (strong runner)
7. Reynolds (organiser)
9. Turpin (dirty work)

I’d personally prefer the first set up so Staggs can keep his centre spot.

1. Isaako
2. Oates
3. Gagai
4. Staggs
5. Farnworth
6. Johnson
7. Reynolds
Etc

Not sure there is any validity to it, but didn't Souths have to choose between Walker and Reynolds to be cap compliant?
If that's the case, then Souths have fucked up royally.

This thread is by far the most exciting thing happening at BHQ in at least 5 years for me... Hynes and Reynolds would make all the difference IMO. Finally a capable organising half with an excellent kicking game and Hynes would fill the other glaring deficiency in our spine for pretty close to a decade.

In other news, I also believe that Milford could thrive in a less restricted / structured role next to ARey, allowing him to use his strengths playing just what's in front of him with Nicho in support.

Prepare the jizz memes when pen is put to paper!

IF Milf can fire with AR, we could have a serious pairing for 1.1M. Thats peanuts these days.
