Wants to make sure he is still getting a pay day while he looks for his next one, much like our CEO.

Probably realised he'd need to take a big pay cut if he got sacked.

Can someone summarise this thread? Has he been sacked?

On what grounds? Dude was busted putting the competition at risk by hanging out with bikies. That’s putting the Broncos into disrepute as well. The NRL should absolutely back us and ban him from the game entirely

Nrl hates us, they’re loving this.

Would just be further proof. They were ok with suspending him and fining him 30k so hopefully they’d side with us in terminating his contract. The NRL need to step in and make sure the clubs doing the right thing by sacking these players don’t just get picked up by another club like there was no real punishment

I suppose he'll bring up other cases of breaches and the severity of their punishments in comparison. Looking at it like that, he probably has a case but I get your point, the bloke is a pot plant and deserves a massive kick up the arse.

He hasn't been sacked yet,

apparently he has been served a breach of contract notice by the club. he still has the right to respond to that and convince us not to sack him.

also fined 30k and indefinitely suspended by NRL

According to that article, he hasn’t been served a breach notice yet but it is probably coming.
It also says he’s not happy about some details from his NRL interview making it into the public domain.

If we can give a guy who terrorized a family a 2nd chance, I think we can give TPJ a 2nd chance.

only if he is prepared to give us some money back off his contract for every week he is suspended

besides, this clearly isn't an isolated incident

If Ikin comes in, TPJ goes out. Ikin called it right 5 months ago.

“If he wants to fight to keep his contract here, that’s a good sign, but if he doesn’t put up much of a fight, it will mean he doesn’t want to be a part of the group,’’ Lockyer said.

“Tevita has plenty to offer as a player. He has made some selfish choices on the field at times and he has made some selfish decisions off the field, but we can’t put all the blame on Tevita. We all have to accept some ownership for the situation.’’

A Lockyer quote from the Courier Mail. I have no clue what is going on with the TPJ saga but I’m confident that the board will stuff it up somehow.

I doubt TPJ wants to stay now. He probably wants to sue get his contract paid out and then go pick up another contract elsewhere.

Double money

The Broncos unofficially announcing his sacking could be a play in the sense that they knew(hoped) other teams would denounce Tevita's conduct and imply that he would not be signed at their club, WITHOUT the actual intention to sack him.

He then realises he's not god's gift to football, he has to be a professional and work hard on and off the field in order to maintain that professionalism. At this point he might be a little bit worried nobody wants him for the money he is receiving now, and Brisbane could use that to their advantage if played right.

I have no hope for TPJ honestly, but I would love for him to prove me wrong and be the player that he can be for the Broncos.
