Conversely, 30 years ago, there were 4 times the number of lawyers then currently in practice coming through the university system in Australia. I would wager that a large majority of them either never wound up working as practising lawyers or if they did, they did not last long.
I don't have any knowledge about that piece of information but know that you're hardly likely to make such a claim without some evidence.

I'd say better too many than too few but that ratio is way out of kilter. Just a small surplus all but guarantees some competition for jobs and the concomitant higher demand for strong ethical standards.

Does that include graduates? The number of people I knew who started out in law and transitioned to another degree was remarkable. I don't think they realised going in how batshit boring all the study is... lol.

I can't remember what year now I was told this, but I suspect it would have been currently enrolled law students. Undoubtedly throughout the course there would have been a culling of numbers, both dropouts and people moving to other degrees. From about 1988 onwards there was a rapid expansion of universities offering law degrees. In 1987, 10 of the then 19 universities offered law programs, by the time 1996 came around, 25 of 36 universities offered law programs.

Broke Covid 5 times and wouldn’t give the NRL assurances he wouldn’t do it again. Certainly doesn’t want to play for us again but do you blame him on that point.
So now he doesn't want to play for us ? Which is it ? Locky said yesterday he wanted to continue with us , and now he doesn't and also there is a players rift. Is this why Fifita left or is this more bullshit , I know one thing I'm over it . Really hope some positives come soon.

**** the media are such dickheads. Last week it is all about rumours are disgusting filth that bottom feeders make up in their basement. 7 days later... "so there's this rumour I heard..." **** you all.

If any of that is true and honestly it doesn't surprise me, then TPJ will never ever been seen in a broncos jersey again and that's a good thing. Absolutely no common sense and honestly, playing talent alone can only get you so far in this league. Just ask Barba, Carney, Hayne etc.

Barba won a premiership, Hayne played in an origin winning team and would have won a premiership almost single-handedly if not for the cheating Storm that screwed up a whole decade. Carney played origin as well but he was far less talented than Barba or Hayne. TPJ is very talented but at this point Dave Taylor level of fulfilling it. That said, Taylor also played for Australia and Queensland in the glory years.

TPJ has so much natural ability he'll almost certainly carve out a reasonably lucrative career, but probably as a bit of a problem child journeyman that moves from club to club as he's EXACTLY the kind of player that Coaches will go to their board and ask to sign so they can 'fix' him, often with mixed results. It really is a shame because if he had Cooper Cronk's level of commitment he could probably be just about the best Forward in the game.

Totally agree and that is the difference between a JT2 and TPJ, a Papalii and a Taylor, a Bromwich and an A.Fifita, a Cronk and a Carney and so on.

On the foxsports website they are reporting that TPJ told the NRL investigators that he breached COVID protocols on 5 occasions and couldn't guarantee he wouldn't break them again, which is why the NRL banned him for the season.

Andrew Webster also says that this has angered the NRL so much that TPJ may gave difficulty getting a contract registered with them for next season

He's 100% gone. Why would the club want to pay top dollar for a man child they need to keep cutting slack? Cancelling his contract is a slam dunk. He's in clear violation of two clauses:

1. Acting in the best interests of the club and game.

2. Must not bring them into disrepute or act detrimental to their interests.

Next case!

To knowingly and repeatedly take actions that he knew risked putting us in the shit at a time where we needed him most speaks volumes about the man.

Again, this is not about COVID, it's about toeing the line because the public, NRL and Governments are all over this and your team mates need you to do what you've been asked so that we can all keep playing, keep getting paid, and trying to win football games.

When you look at the side we have to run out this week because of things mostly out of our control like injuries and suspensions etc, it's just disgraceful that someone else has contributed to it through wilful indifference and selfishness.

When’s Oates back? He’s suddenly jumped up the pecking order for our backrower stocks.

If Ikin is our new CEO TPJ might as well pack his bags as he has already said he would be one of the first players he gets rid of and wouldn't have re-signed him last year either.

He said that because we had Fifita, he claimed that they are similar players with Fifita having more upside . Might be a different story now, but it also depends on who we chase I'd imagine.

Lockyer is reportedly backing him to stay:

“We all have to accept some ownership for the situation. Tevita has plenty to offer as a player. He has made some selfish choices on the field at times and he has made some selfish decisions off the field, but we can‘t put all the blame on Tevita. If he wants to fight to keep his contract here, that‘s a good sign.”
