Anthony Milford Discussion

Turning one of the most gifted runners into an organiser was a stupid move from the get go. It's going to be even worse next year if he's the halfback.

And why was that done? To compensate for Hunt. Milf's turned into a ball shuffling non-threat. His running now is the equivalent of Hunt's kicking.

Was a rubbish game all round tbh, i don't necessarily think its panic stations but def was a game we should have won.
They shouldn't have won that game, they were dominated from the 8th minute onwards. Probably lucky it wasn't a bigger margin.

Yep....we have to start playing Marshall more and let him do the organising. **** Hunt off for good. Let Milford start to enjoy his football again by just playing what's in front of him.

Hunt is like a robot that very occasionally forgets his programming and does something off the cuff. He'll come up with the wrong option 9/10 times. At least Benji is always looking to do something different, his first instinct is to run, Hunt nervously reverts to his rushed kicks and no vision ball shuffling. He's also a sook and shit communicator and that rubs off on everyone else.

Our structure was fine for the first 15 minutes.
We lost because we were utterly outplayed and physically dominated from the 16 minute mark onwards. We clocked off. Parramatta stepped up.
Disappointing performance from all 17

There were no structures. There was an Eels outfit who for the 1st 15 mins were trash and we just threw the ball around and tore them up. Then, on the back of a string of crap penalties and, no doubt some words of wisdom from their coach, the Eels decided to play football, yes, to step up and to play to their game plan.

We didn't clock off - we fell apart, more or less as we did when faced by another disciplined and organised side like the Storm the other week.

We have no answer to really well coached sides who run at us hard and fast with purpose, discipline and energy. The Broncos are not a well coached side. That ended in 2015. We will beat a good number of average sides but no way the top contenders.

At this rate, on this showing, as well as the one against the Storm, we bow out in the 1st week of the finals.

As for Milford - deep breath - as someone else posted negatively comparing him to Munster's and Morgan's growth, it's not Milford, it's the coaching staff who are ruining him. Like I said, the last time Milford was properly coached was in 2015. What a waste of talent. Maybe he should have been our full back, and Boyd 5/8. I so miss Milf's running game from the back.

Marshall seems to sense what we are missing in direction and makes an effort to take it upon himself to rectify the problem when he comes on. He's probably never been more motivated in his career than he would be right now.....

Hunt is just a fucken spud.

We are definitely not a particularly structured side. When there are no offloads or broken field play, the team doesn't look comfortable in attack. When we are forced into a grinding contest, we usually come out second best. Organised sides aren't like this.

I can't remember if this was a conversation I had on here or IRL, but we rely mostly on individual brilliance, sometimes combined, and luck nowadays. We might have 1 every 5 sets where we maybe look like we know what we're doing, but it's generally just throw it to the halves or throw it wide and see if anything comes of it. We can pull off a set play every now and then, but those too rely on too many thing to go right to work.

And tbh it's probably always been the case for us - we just had more of the individuals than the other team back then who in turn weren't coached to the standard that they are now.

I'm not suggesting we become robots like the Storm, but it can't be denied it's effective. Obviously they have some GOATs running the show down there, but they know what they're going to do each tackle, and what to do if plan A doesn't work. That's 95% of their game. The rest is the give-it-a-whirl-chancing which is probably even more effective in that system because it catches the other team off-guard more often.

I just hate how directionless we are. Every group within the team look to be on different pages to each other.

When kodi was in milf wanted to take control and grew into that role then startednplaying.better football. Hunt is trying to control which makes the milf wait. I know there are alot on here that think hunt is a super player but he makes poor decisions 8 times out of 10 amd confuses his team around him as to what play is coming. Hunt is the weak link and its effecting the attacking structure. Kodi thinks more before he sets the play and throws the right pass 8 out of 10 times. Hunt and milf cant be 6 and 7 if we are a chance to win the gf. Throw marshall in or make kodi 7 now.

I get the feeling Milford deep down doesn't like hunt. Must be the added pressure when hunt makes an error but Milford just looks frustrated with hunt. It's no coincidence Milford has had his best games this year with kodi and Marshall. Hunt getting selected for origin after a week in qcup hasn't done this team any favours. I get Wayne's love for Boyd but what does he love about hunt so much?

A half of Benjis experience needs to be utilitised more while we got him. Get rid of hunt

I wonder if there is something to this? There were rumours over the last few years that they don't like each other. Maybe there is more than just smoke.

Speaking of Hunt, what's our record with and without him in the side this season? I'm deadset serious when I say the Dragons are downgrading from McCrone.

Milford is injured. He is a massive talent being badly mismanaged. If it wasn't for his Scruge McDuck sized money pile i'd feel sorry for the fat little guy. Playing away from his strengths and letting him get clobbered in the front line.

Move him to fullback even more so if he is playing on one shoulder. Boyd can't catch a cold one on one against a quick stepper in last line anyway. We are trying to fit 4 weak 'halves' into 2 so why not make it 3 with Boyd playing a hodges style role leading from centre. Boyd can still do his out the back play as an inside centre by sweeping Roberts around to the other side of the field(yes Wayne the 1990s called and told me you can play 2 centres on same side of the field occasionally to great effect).
