RUMOUR Anthony Seibold offered $1 Million to leave

Including the dotted line of a coaching contract perhaps
In time maybe. Personally, I do have some doubts that Smith would want to step into Coaching full time given he's dedicated nearly two decades of his life to week to week NRL already. I imagine a well earned year or two off to put his feet up, perhaps with a bit of media work either for his club or a broadcaster, is the likely order of things for Smith.

Agree with your logic although sometimes I wonder if Smith actually wants to put his feet up. He doesn't strike me as that kind of person

Obviously I don't know him whatsoever so it's pure speculation. He has a wife and kids and I'm sure they have been waiting patiently for some of his time for a long time now. A move back to Brisbane/Gold Coast and a chance to enjoy himself with them for a while would have to be likely hard to ignore.

Sounding like it’ll be a battle between the Broncos and Titans (Fifita showdown rd2 ding ding) for the signature of Smith.
I wonder now if the tits regret going all in for Fifi..I guess it’s a bit of an odd situation, Fifita for 3yrs, where Smith will more then likely be a 1yr deal.
The Smith get will be much broader then just on field though, you’d think there would be a coaching gig for life after footy.
Smith would be a PR dream, especially with the sponsorship $ he would bring to the club. Would most definitely drive up our share price.
Hopefully it happens, you’d think with Boyd, Kahu, Bird (?), TPJ (?) and Fifita’s money we would be able to go all in.
Could also explain why they’re taking their time with TPJ’s situation. That’ll free up a fair bit of coin in the race for Smith.

Tallis has already starting rewriting history to give them the space to sign Smith like the salary cap auditor would just take his word for it. Asking how would we have the money when we only had 600k for Fifita (this is despite it being reported at 800k and the flog himself claiming it was actually 900k when he was trying to justify his stupid price tag). I wish someone would headbutt this ****.

I’m not big on smith coming here as a player. He fucking bailed out of origin because he was looking after himself. Padding out his retirement fund isn’t really something I’m interested in unless it’s to come and be a part time consultant.

Holy shit boys is this happening or what? I go away for one day and it looks like our collective dreams will come true! Not much chance of getting any work done today I'll just be refreshing BHQ every minute.

Me too man and everytime a notificatoin from the CM comes up on my phone I get so excited.

Please make this happen, we've earned this.

Green has the runs on the board. 2 premierships in first 2 seasons at Wynum . Premiership with Cowboys and grand final 2 years later. Struggled post Thurston. Kevvie would have to be behind Green if you are considering previous achievements.

**** no to Green. 2017 - BARELY made finals thanks to relying on other results. 2018 - Missed finals 2019 - Missed finals 2020- Left the team in a Broncos like shambles.

2015 is a joke of a Grand Final to have the resume too, for all intents and pu rposes Cowboys had been beaten for 79 minutes of that...and it relied on 3 negative plays on Ben Hunt to get them over the line too. Greens credentials are overstated, and he should be known as a coach that has missed finals for the last 3 years.

What do we reckon Walters gets paid? $500k a year? At that over 3 years if we manage to get pies off our book for a million we break about even.

Wherever he goes he'd be acting as a Consultant even while he's still playing. His level of experience and expertise is near enough to priceless I'd dare say and will be in hugely high demand for some time to come.

As for padding out his retirement fund - well he's had years to do that at Melbourne and that entire time he's been week in week out their best player who get's through an amount of work that shames a lot of players much younger than him. Objectively he's still as good today as he was 5 years ago and hasn't even hinted at slowing down.

His whole value after football rests on his legacy as a footballer, so there is basically no chance he's going to want to come to a new club and not give a good account of himself because that wouldn't help to further push that legacy along. In this sense, Smith's level of self interest is actually likely to be a good thing for whatever club he goes to.

I say we should be conservative we don't want to get our fingers burned again.
I think a base rate of 500k with bonuses for making the top 8, top 4, winning a semi final, etc. would be about right.
Length of contract should be either 2 or 3 years but not sure a bout an option given how much grief they have given us in the past.

Two plus one with the option in our favour seems about right.

Two years max in my opinion. We'll have plenty of time to decide on an extension if it's warranted after the first 12 months or so.

who ever gets the gig is coming in at a good time alot of $$$ for next year
