Yes - we are all individuals!I disagree.
Kevvie is the man for the job both on and off the field. When i started following league and the Broncos I was not able to read the play as it unfolded, but I recall Steve Renouf's try in the grand final. Carne brings the ball back from the in goal and Kerrod is standing waiting to play the ball and Kevvie runs in and pushes him out of the way. It was at that moment that I realised that Kevvie was able to read numbers and see opportunities better than most. His quick shift to Alfie allowed Alf to set the Pearl off and the rest as they say is history.
He had our halves performing in 2015 too and then something went awry with him and Benny after the final.
I'm convinced he'll bring the glory days back as he can pass that nous on through coaching to the likes of Tommy Deardon and I'm sure he will revive Milf too.
We literally just hired any old Coach though - it's the entire reason we ended up in this mess.I'm just making this up but I'm willing to bet more than a hundred internet dollars they would not have sacked Seibold if they didn't have another coach agreed in principle. The Broncos doesn't just hire any old coach. Walters, in the Broncos' fans eyes, isn't "any old coach," he's Kevvie Walters, and whether he's a great coach or an okay coach doesn't really matter. No one's going to question the logic in his appointment.
I'd also be willing to wager another hundred internet dollars they already have their new CEO, and it's Ben Ikin.
I'm assuming Pies' position as head coach at Souths and winning rookie coach of the year there suggested (at the time) that he had proven he had what it takes to survive in the NRL. Kevvie was and is still untested so it would seem they used this metric. What I am curious about is that I understand Seibold was selected over Walters. So the board must have recorded its reasons for that, irrespective of their merits. For the board to now dispense with Seibold's services and hire Walters, especially this year is not a good look for the board. I'd like to know why Seibold was preferred over Walters

I'm not arguing with you by the way, just that I'm reading it a little differently. I think we've moved on Seibold in the last couple of weeks for reasons unrelated to purely football which have made his continued employment and presence around the place simply untenable. In a situation like that, I think it's entirely acceptable to move him on urgently even without a replacement lined up, given where we are in the season and on the ladder there isn't a great deal still at stake in the short term, and we now have some evidence that our Caretaker option is capable of doing a respectable job for the time being.
We don't exactly have to worry about having a replacement lined up, as the Broncos are probably still an enticing enough appointment that the inverse is likely true, and the fact we've got a vacancy might actually hold other clubs up from being able to appoint guys on the market right now as probably several of them would be very keen on coming to work for us as a preference.
I think Walters is the logical option, I'm just saying I think if they have any common sense they'll appoint the CEO first and then make him part of the process of appointing the new Coach. Realistically I think if they'd already decided on Ikin then there isn't any good reason why they wouldn't have made it official by now and got him started already. It's not like Paul White is desperate to hang on any longer than he has to. The fact they haven't made a call officially yet says to me it still hasn't been decided yet.
Nah. Mary was a centre and was not required to call plays in his playing days and so he never learned the art of play making and shot calling first hand. Whereas, Kevvie was there in the thick of it for 6 premierships. I think you're being a wee bit unfair in the comparison. If Seibold is our Price than Walters will be our Mary McGregor. A vast improvement, great for culture and morale, won’t challenge for a premiership.
Yes, I agree it would make sense for the incoming CEO to be involved in the choice of coach. I'm also pretty sure Walters would be Ikin's choice, and I'm certain he will already have been consulted if the decision has been made.We literally just hired any old Coach though - it's the entire reason we ended up in this mess.

I would imagine the fact he was an NRL coach, for however briefly, provided an advantage. Kevvie should have been in an NRL job years ago. What I am curious about is that I understand Seibold was selected over Walters. I'm not sure you could call the previous selection process 'full and proper'. It's public knowledge now that it was certainly contentious to say the least.I don't agree the board hired "any old Coach". There was, on paper at least, a full and proper selection process with reasons for hiring Seibold, especially him over Walters. As I posted above, I really doubt the board would want to appoint Walters now without going though a formal selction process.
For mine, Gentle stays until the end of the year and the coaching job is advertised, if for no other reason than this board needs to save face. Any mess here is not Seibold's fault, although he of course contributed. It is all on the board

I agree about the rest though, no way should Walter be appointed without consulting the new CEO and that means Gentle likely has the reigns for the balance of 2020 now.
Speaking of heads, how's your cabin fever?Yeah I’m convinced he should be head coach.

To be honest I would be happy with that for a few years - get us back to being the Broncos and not a bunch of fucking cry baby *****. If he goes better than expected that's a positive but we need to rebuild our identity first and foremost and no one is better suited to do that than Kevvie. If Seibold is our Price than Walters will be our Mary McGregor. He will be pushed on us pre season next year no doubt.... But there's 2 main criteria for marketability and they are both something he will not see much of for the next 3 years... winning is one, and it is something we cannot claim to bring him either at the moment admittedly... But the 2nd, is a FAN BASE. Something the titans will not have regardless of the push and help from the nrlI'm not saying it's based in reality, marketing hardly ever is. I'm simply pointing out that any marketing person worth their pay cheque will only be talking about the Keebra Park part of that story because it's what serves the Titans narrative best.
Fifita is also the Kangaroos U23's Captain and has had Rep Captaincy roles coming through the lower age sides, so I think your comparison to Roberts and presumption that he offers nothing from a marketing perspective are probably quite a long way off the mark.
He will be in every NRL ad and every piece of Titans marketing non stop next pre-season. I hope you remember this conversation when that time comes and you're sick of seeing his face in a Titans jersey on your TV screen in every Fox/NRL ad next February.
