Any reasons Broncs WON'T win wooden spoon?

I'm trying to imagine the backlash if we won the spoon. Griffin, Gee and co would have to go into hiding.

Hook will be long gone before then, caretaker coach Steve Kearney may have to skip town though.

Some good lessons for the Broncs 2014 wooden spoon charge -- from last nights game.

Missed tackle % ((missed + ineffective) / total attempted):

Backs:
Kenny Dowall : 45%
Minichiello: 36%
Maloney: 26%
Pearce : 23%

Forwards:
Friend : 14%
Moa: 12%

The only player from the Bunnies with comparable stats was McQueen. Who proves the "Gillett-effect" with his performance -- you can cough up the ball a few times in key positions, miss a whole bunch of tackles, hog the ball and blow trys -- but hey, if your team gives you some space to run then you must be an origin player, putting in an origin performance.

lol at people who don't understand rugby league fundamentals -- looking at you Anthony Griffin.

Minichiello at fullback and SKD in their starting side is what gives me hope they won't win another premiership this year. They are terrible.

So you are seriously suggesting that a guy who has made a career out of coaching rugby league, and is in his third year as a first grade coach in the toughest league competition in the world has no understanding of league fundamentals. Lol to you.
way to post stuff on a forum.

Whilst he has made a career out of coaching at state level, and fair play to him seemed to be quite good at it, he really doesn't seem to be able to handle coaching at this level.

Remember, the only season he did well, Lockyer ran the show - do you think he really had that much input when you have someone like that around? We bombed out of the finals in 2012 after a promising start to the season, and well, what can you say about 2013?

If it doesn't sink in for Griffin this year on what he has to do, it will be his fourth and final year coaching at this level. He won't get a job at this level again if he gets sacked from the Broncos.

Yeah that's all fine , but to say he has no understanding of rugby league fundamentals is just plain DUMB.

More than anything he needs to gain awareness of his flaws and get the right people to help him do the things he is manifestly not good enough at!

He appears to be a good leader of men, and normally a good enough motivator to ensure the team keeps ploughing ahead, which under the circumstances is a mean feat.
Until Kearney came to the club, our defense was rock solid, so I'm assuming he can coach that too.

He needs someone to complement him, come up with varied set plays, plan games taking into account the opposition's strengths and flaws, manage the bench properly and help develop our youngsters. Someone with attacking nous and creativity!

If he can't see past his nose or is too proud for it, he has to go, no doubt about it!

The old adage of Bennett-ball (which is now Griffin-ball) that if you control the ball, don't make mistakes, don't miss tackles, you'll win games is just far too simplistic. If both teams do that, then the way you win is by having more ability to break the defensive line and make the most of your rare opportunities.

Bennett and Griffin teams have in the past decade seemed to forget that second part...their plan only works if you're against a team that fails to control the ball or makes mistakes in defence.

Griffinball/Bennettball works if you have the defence to choke the opposition and also enough key players to be able to come up with points in the short periods where they aren't just playing it safe.

It's very outdated now, and unless you have Cam Smith or DCE, you really need to start evolving.

The most tackles Hoffman has made in an NRL game in his eight-year career is six.

Tonight he will "attempt" at least 30.

equal 13th, one round to go before origin

who's prediction holding up the best?

Well, we won't win the spoon because Canberra are in the NRL.

But, we might give it a good nudge!

Still not a chance for the spoon!

I thought we'd end up somewhere mid table (6th-10th), and I'm still of that opinion, though I think we're looking more to the bottom end of that spectrum.

I would say either Knights or Raiders look the most likely at this stage. Unless Benji makes a massive impact (unlikely behind that pack), I'd say the Dragons will be in the running too.

RLW Player of the Year leaderboard:

92 – Matthew Scott (Cowboys)

91 – Sam Burgess (Rabbitohs)

87 – Corey Parker (Broncos), Johnathan Thurston (Cowboys)

86 – Andrew McCullough (Broncos), Ben Hunt (Broncos), Anthony Milford (Raiders), Matt Gillett (Broncos)

85 – Daniel Vidot (Broncos)

Was interesting reading some of the comments in this thread and wasn't sure where to put this but the latest RLW leaderboard has five Broncos players in the top nine.
