then why the fcuk is he reffing a test?

Cause Ashley Klein wouldn't dare show his hide anywhere within a 50 metre radius of Suncrap Stadium. Not after last years performance. Wonder if he donned his NZRL jumper tonight while he perhaps watched the game from his maximum security institutional facility? [icon_wink

I know everybody is looking for someone to blame for Australia losing the world cup final, but TBH, i don't think he had all that bad a game. the only wrong decision i can recall was a VIDEO REF decision and that's not his fault. i still think that currently Klein is the best ref in the game

I got no problem that that Slater pass. We were attacking close to the tryline and he should've had players inside as well as outside.. Slater had every right to throw that pass, it was disappointing he didn't have backup on the inside.

If I remember correctly, he had Lockyer and Thurston on his inside, both of whom would have scored if the panic pass hadn't gone straight over their heads. Or maybe I'm thinking of a different incident [icon_shru

No, the same one. Guess I didn't see them.

Still think the pass was on but Slater should've directed it better or had more backup!

You do realise that Klein now refs in the NRL and therefore will get to ref games at Suncorp. Also IMHO is a big show to get SOO along with Shayne Hayne as his buddy.

As someone else said I thought he wasn't that bad in the Final, we lost the game. I rate Klein as one of, if not, the top ref in the game at the moment.

Yes I am well aware of his now NRL refereeing duties and the high probability of him getting many Suncrap gigs in the future. I was more referring to the occaision. He will cop more flack from the punters at a Australia/NZ re-match than at a regular scheduled NRL fixture purely based on past occurances.

That aside, you are fully entitled to your opinion Russo and I'm happy to acknowledge it. I thought, at the time, that Klein had a very ordinary game. I have forgotten the specific decisions etc which occured in that particular final, so forgive me if I don't provide any examples.

As for the top refferee honour in the NRL atm, I may be inclined to agree with you at this point in time. Step up fellow NRL refs! [icon_wink

I tell you what... Benji is just ... something else hey. Electric. That's all I can describe him as. Really enjoyed watching him last night.

Well that was an outstanding game, and purely because it played so many QLD players back into form, or built up their form even more. That was one of the best games from Hodges I have seen in fucking ages. He actually played like a centre again! Great to see. Thurston proved why he is the best halfback in the game. I suspect Coxy is pretty full this morning from all that humble pie he ate last night. And for all those that bitched about slaters passing game to tate last year in the origin... boyd showed how you are meant to play on the wing tonight, slaters pass to him was brilliant.

What humble pie would that be? Thurston still didn't play a halfback's game. He had the show and go which was brilliant, and then twice kicked straight into kiwis on the last play producing nothing.

I stand by my opinion. He should not play halfback for Queensland or Australia. Five-eighth or nothing, and while Lockyer is there (easily the world's best player) Thurston should miss out.

Prince is the number 1 halfback in this country. End of story.

LOL, brilliant pass to Boyd? He had to stop and catch it and then had more work to do than he should've to score.
Slater was ordinary last night, but I have no qualms with him being selected, either for Australia or Queensland. You don't miss much, other than K's ability to actually execute the second man play. Slater is atrocious at it.

I also want it on record that Glenn Stewart's handling was so bad I doubt he could've held down a 17 year old.........................

LOLZ - So Thurston throws a dummy and scores again and some people here think he is god. Please. That try was probably a perfect example of why he's such a good 5/8 and a great runner of the ball rather than a halfback.

People rate him because he has been consistently the good for the last few seasons, nothing to do with what he did last night. I don't see how him throwing a dummy and scoring a try can be evidence that he should be playing 5/8???? That's prince's pet play aswell.

Yep, 3 show and goes for 3 tries.
Also about 20 kicks that hit legs and went nowhere.

Like I keep saying, excellent player, not a halfback.

He also put a lot people people in space, put O'Donnell over the line twice and was very solid in defense.

Has he all of a sudden become a bad half back, or has his numerous coaches and selectors been getting it wrong all these years??

He doesn't play like a halfback. That's where I'm saying the myth is. He's sort of a morph between a halfback, five-eighth and a fullback (in attack).

My argument is that Queensland doesn't need a jack of all trades, it needs a specialist halfback.

Scott Prince FTW!
