Well yeah, this is an aus v nz thread :P
Coxyz said:LOL, brilliant pass to Boyd? He had to stop and catch it and then had more work to do than he should've to score.
Slater was ordinary last night, but I have no qualms with him being selected, either for Australia or Queensland. You don't miss much, other than K's ability to actually execute the second man play. Slater is atrocious at it.
Coxyz said:He doesn't play like a halfback. That's where I'm saying the myth is. He's sort of a morph between a halfback, five-eighth and a fullback (in attack).
My argument is that Queensland doesn't need a jack of all trades, it needs a specialist halfback.
Scott Prince FTW!
The Rock said:LOLZ - So Thurston throws a dummy and scores again and some people here think he is god. Please. That try was probably a perfect example of why he's such a good 5/8 and a great runner of the ball rather than a halfback.
Coxyz said:So now fullback is a defensive position...lolz, love how you Slater lovers change the goal posts to suit your poster boy :P
Why do QLD need a specialist halfback when you have a player of Cameron Smith's calibre doing that job for him? Thurston is fine to play there.Coxyz said:He doesn't play like a halfback. wtf? of course fullback is a defensive position! thats hardly a new thing mate
Jazza said:But you can break down defensive comparisons even further. IMO Hunt is second to none on kick defence, but Slater probably has it on him in terms of making tackles, especially when difusing a clean break. Hunt is quite poor in this area.
broncospwn said:I sort of agree their, slater tends to slide and get the person, where as hunt tries to smash them and gets rolled ala chewy chewy.
Still, hunt > slater :P

Sliding and getting Moi moi wouldn't have worked. Big bloke like that all you can do is hit him as hard as you can and try and put him off balance. K did that. Awesome stuff.
Hammo, you rock [eusa_clap.giHammoz said:- JT was solid and his kicking game was far from poor, despite what any agendas will try and tell you.
- Pretty much every NSWmen in the side sucked. I take back my comments of fearing their second rowers. Apart from the Stewart who can't play and Thug Gallen, they are softer than a basket of kittens.
- Civo and Price are Gods. I just can't say enough good. Price is a miracle and Civo is the second coming. I guarantee Bellamy hasn't a plan to stop them making metres, because you can't. Better to focus on the rest of the QLD pack.
- Cam Smith has had a quiet season, but like a true champion, stepped up at Rep. Made shiteloads of metres when he ran and got penalties. He will crap all over Ennis. NSW will be crazy to not pick Farah against Smith.
- The backline is untouchable. / story. Boyd & Hodges will remain untouched.
- Benji Marshall is the biggest myth in Rugby League at present. He is nothing against decent competition and say he was eligible for Origin, he wouldn't make either side. In fact, this is his peak and for that very fact, he will hurt NZRL more, because they will persist with him over the next few years instead of trying to find a halfback/five-eighth.
- Lima, who many of you know I rated massivly, is lazy.
- Blair is a monster. Can't we find some form of QLD eligibility there?
- NZ should have given Manu far more gametime.
