Yes. I think they've just lost a lot of momentum and now they are giving England a sniff - I'm not sure they will bat as poorly in their second dig.

Yeah that's the only thing that comes to mind for me too. Starc would be swinging it better then Anderson tho...

*But he also might feel that even if they only make 50-100, it will be enough.

Yeah, tough decision for mine, chasing around over 100 would be hard in these conditions and extra pressure of a chase, I can see his reasons.
Another 60 to 100 will be very hard for this England side, they probably won't even try to get them.
Barring a complete collapse, the weather is our biggest worry.

Smith has only enforced it once, West Indies two years ago.
Tests at Adelaide Oval: Lowest target defended - 186 (WI, 1993) Highest target achieved - 315 Highest target achieved since 1980 - 239
We are 268 ahead; bat till dark tomorrow will be close to 350. England will have to make history to win and our bowlers have rested.
We only have four bowlers and they have to play in Perth after this game.

If we enforced it the 215 lead could become a 150 chase under lights on day five. We have avoided a chase in difficult circumstances.
This way bowlers are rested, we will have two lights sessions and England will need a record to win. It creates scoreboard pressure.
England have never chased more than 332 to win a Test and haven't chased more than 250 to win in Australia since 1928.
Are they going to get 350 under lights against four quicks and Lyon?

They would have taken the weather into it. A draw means 1-0 up after two Tests. Job nearly done!

That outcome hasn't been removed from the equation. It's been enhanced. They're not going to hold on through two night sessions and a day and a half.
If we can't bowl them out with a huge lead and that much time then we aren't performing.

Oh my goodness!! Aleem Dar just gave Handscomb out despite CLEAR daylight between bat and ball, that is absolutely disgraceful! So lucky to have DRS these days because that is what it is there for, these kinds of absolute howlers. He should be fired after that.

Handscomb is in real trouble. Don't let his test average fool you, he has looked absolutely out of his depth this series.
