CRICKET Australia v Pakistan Series

Australia in serious trouble now.

Bison, Smudge and Carey need to put on about 140 runs just to get it to a 200 run lead... but they'll want 250-300 run lead at least, which is a long way away.

Will be interesting to see what Smudge is all about right now.

A lot of the time it seems like he gets bored and just hits out after making a start, but we need serious runs this time.

Also a chance for Marsh and Carey to show what value they can bring when the chips are well and truly down

This is turning out to be a really good game.

Why is he called The Bison?

What a fightback by Marsh and Smith, though both of them should have been out early. Pakistan only have themselves to blame.

Oh Marsh, in the 90s again. Great catch though.

**** sake.. great innings from Marsh and deserved to get a hundred, but Pakistan finally replaces Shafique and he gets caught by a screamer

There are so many complicated moving parts to Smith’s batting at the moment - grip, stance, lateral movement ect, it’s little wonder he’s finding it difficult to hit the ball off the square and occupy the crease for long enough to make big runs..

I’d love to see him somehow find a way to unlock himself from these physical & mental constraints, simplify everything & just bat with a clear mind

I think he’d need an exorcist though !

I think his demise or decline are greatly exaggerated. He is close to 1000 runs for the year (929 runs). He's second only to Khawaja for the year and second most 100's for the year behind Williamson.

He's played 13 Tests and been to England and India the two hardest tours.

Even the eye test he is still balanced and not losing his feet at all, his head is very still. Yesterday was a great 50.

Yeah he still keeps getting starts, but then seems to find a way to get out.

The short ball barrage that started in the Ashes also stifles runs... I hate it as a tactic and it turned the whole series into a snore fest, but players will need to figure out a way to bat and score against it, as it does end up proving to be effective in slowing down the runs and creating wicket.

That whole approach to Smudge and Marnus started when NZ toured Aus back in 2019 and Wagner was bowling non-stop short balls with a leg side field.

Around that time India and England started using a leg slip against both of them and now it's getting to full body line fields when they cant figure out a way to get them out

What on earth? There is no hot spot, the ball is clearly missing the bat but because there is also clearly something on snicko, it is out. He has CLEARLY missed it. That is just plain weird.

Been a good knock from Carey here.

Has got his 50 and came together with the tail at 187, so they've put on 74 so far.

Would like to see if he can go T20 mode and manufacture some boundaries against the spread field
