Australia vs India - Test Series

Well there you go, India's pace production line finishes at their sixth choice.

Bumrah, Shami, Sharma, Yadav and Siraj all class options.

Saini bowls pies.

That looks out to the naked eye.

Well, rushing Warner back really paid off FFS

Well as per usual, can only rely on these two to score runs.

How is that even close to hitting... ball tracking taken an hour to try and find a ball that is close enough for India to retain a challenge

This pitch is starting to play a LOT of tricks, a lead of 300 will be imposing but can these two get Australia there.

If we blow the chance to get a 250+ run lead I'll be pissed of

Marnus struggling a little against Ashwin... he seems to be getting some nice turn.

Probably need to come down the wicket to combat him... Just like Smudge has done

SCG has become a strange place- last ten Tests- side batting first has won three.

Yep although McDermott is thought to be a shorter form player... he is one of the top runscorers in shield this season and on top of that is in the runs at the moment... realistically he should be in or close to being in the squad
The selectors have flagged his inability to convert 50's to 100's as an issue, but the timing isn't right at the moment. I did like the look of him in that Aus A v India game though

2, 5 & 6 are the current issues in the batting line up.

Pocovski has grabbed the opener spot, but he comes in with a known weakness to short balls and potential weakness to lbw.

Green has a lot of potential and is one of the form bats in the shield so is rightly higher in the peaking order. At the moment he's struggling to get a start, but is up against arguably the best bowling attack that could be thrown at him, excluding the injuries he's still up against a decent Indian pace attack with Bumrah arguably one of the best pace bowlers going and Ashwin has come in with confidence. He is also coming in at difficult time to bat as it's usually following a mini collapse and Paine being 50/50 as to whether he will hang around.

Wade and Head are both failing to nail down the no. 5 spot, but it would be a very difficult decision to run with three rookies in Poco, Green and McDermott.

It would be nice for one of Wade, Head or Green to nail down their spot before introducing the next new bat.

Green potentially jumping up to no. 5 and being able to bat with Marnus or Smith would probably be great for the young guy, but it's pretty typical to put the rookie at 6.

It may actually be beneficial to drop Wade to 6 and move Green up to 5. Wade performed reasonably well as that counter attacking lower order bat when he was wicket keeper. Scored a couple tons and was eventually dropped because his keeping was costing us and he likely had a down period on runs.

As mentioned moving Green up to 5 would have him regularly batting with our two best batsmen and that position generally lends itself to hunkering down for a big innings compared to no. 6 which can come with either having to score quickly (because you're 4/350) or having excessive pressure that may come with reversing a collapse and potentially batting with the tail.

Wade gets a jaffa.

Something needs to be done in the middle order. Not sure McDermott is the solution but neither Wade or Head are deserving to bat at 5.

Really missing the days of Hussey and Clarke at 5 & 6.

Not to mention Haydos at 1, Ponting 3 and Gilly at 7 😉
