Australia vs New Zealand - Match Thread + Post Match Discussion

wow, like all the other test matches that was so super competitive, i was sweating right up until the final minute it was so close!

oh wait, no, it was like 99% of the other rugby league test matches - a blowout and over in the first 20 minutes lol.

Lockyer played brilliantly, as did Slater and Tonga.

I think Stephen Kearney was using the Parramatta defensive playbook there they were useless.

Benji Marshall and Quade Cooper should start a nightclub called hype. All week you hear about this awesome nightclub, leaving you frothing at the mouth in the anticipation of going to this club. Then come the weekend and the big moment arrives to go there and it turns out to be shite. But the worst part about it is nobody ever tells you about the bad parts, they always talk about it like it's awesome.

Lol Lawerence is not one of the best centers in the game.?

I think Rocky means potentially. He hasn't had an opportunity to show it yet, not at the highest level. Injury this year cruelled his chances. I agree with him he's a very good player though, and with so many players injured and so few quality specialist centres available, Lawrence was a good selection.

And he was pretty good yesterday.

Steve michaels would have been good yesterday ffs

That's just silly. You could say Dane Gagai would've gone crazy on the right wing instead of Uate as well.

Fact is Lawrence is a good player in a position where Australia has a few injuries at the moment. Galloway is an average player who's had his best season, and with quite a few props unavailable through injury he's a fair selection (personally I'd have had McGuire ahead of him, but have to admit bias there). Farah...well, frankly I don't think we need a backup hooker. Smith plays 80 minutes, and Cronk can play hooker at a pinch.

I'd even have Ballin infront of Farah, had a far better season, better Smith replacement and it allows the selectors to appease Manly.

I don't mind the Galloway selection, behind McGuire, he was the second best prop in the finals. Shillington was the weirdest prop selection, although, I don't mind the Aussie selectors showing loyalty.

How good is Locky. He was magnificent.

I can't stand watching old ball hog Gallen though. I wish he'd stop trying to be a hero with the stupid offloads etc.

How was the contrast between the attacking play in this game and the attacking play in the Yawnion. The Kiwi's had Australia all over the ropes but continued to kick field goals and take penalty shot. I think if they (and the Aussies) played some expansive footy the game would have been interesting.

Rugby League >>>>>>>>> Rugby Union

Yeah Lawrence is a good choice, and quite obvious in the line of succession of Australian centres.
Josh Morris on the other hand......

Yeah, don't get me started on that.

Sheens announces the initial squad with 2 specialist centres, one of which carrying an injury.
Fullback pulls out - brings in another centre in Willie Tonga.
Back rower pulls out - brings in another centre in Josh Morris.

WTF? If those guys were fit, why not include them in the first place? And why not leave out Tony Williams considering we have a huge number of quality back rowers, but only 2 centres?
Now we have 4 centres, which we should've had from the start.

Such a bone head.

On another note. How #### was Foran yesterday? Seriously. One of the most overrated young players in the game (unless I missed the subtlety in his dropped balls and #### defence yesterday?).
