All this exercise will do is discourage Krejza and look what happened to another spinning talent in Dan Cullen they gave him a test where he barely got a bowl and then ditched him for the likes of Cameron White and now he is a shell of the bowler he was before that test match confidence sapped playing grade cricket.

I think a lot depends on what he gets told by the selectors. If they've told him to go back and play a Shield game or two and work on bowling a bit tighter before they'll bring him back, then I think it could be a good thing. But if he's just been axed without any explanation being offered to him, then I agree it could see him heading down the track that Dan Cullen has unfortunately gone down.

I'm not fussed either way if they take Hauritz or Krejza as the spinner, but whoever they go with needs to be given the time to develop and not keep chopping and changing. It seems the selectors have forgotten Warne was rubbish in his first tests, but they were patient with him and he became the greatest ever spin bowler - and now they expect a guy to come into the team and be at his test match peak straight up.

And I think part of the reason Symonds is being kept in the side is that the CA executive know they didn't provide him the support he felt he needed and probably deserved last summer over the Indian situation, so they are trying to make it up to him. However whilst his form hasn't been great for a while, he does have some kind of X factor - just hope it comes to the fore again soon. He's also another one (along with Lee) who are popular with the fans, especially the young kids and are very marketable, so that's also a big reason both of them will be given a bit more leniency in regards to their form than some other players.

Hauritz is going to get creamed...

I really hope Hilfenhaus gets a run, I've been a fan of him for ages.

Plus they just weakened the lower batting order.

I've really lost faith in the selectors, Kreza should have been retained, show some faith for gods sake!

I agree with all your sentiments Krejza would do as well (more likely better than Hauritz) with the ball and definitely better with the bat. Also a big fan of Hilf and glad to see he is back in the frame.

Yep, dropping Krejza is ridiculous. I can't believe selectors are so stupid to think a spinner is going to appear that dominates from their first game and maintains it. Warne didn't do it FFS.

They needed to pick a spinner and give them the full summer, and tell them that. Give them a chance to learn how to bowl at this level.

Lee on the other hand...he knows what it's all about and he just isn't up to it at the moment. Whether he can recapture his best form, who knows? But he's not getting any younger, and he's not going to get any quicker. He needs to develop some skill.

I am not sure what everybody else thinks but I am damn sure Lee s current form is much better than Siddle is so Lee should play ahead of Siddle.

A pace attack of Johnson, Lee and Hilfenhaus would look much better IMO. Lee should be kept in the side for experience alone IMO Siddle 2 tests Hauritz 2 tests Hilfenhaus o tests and Johnson has only played about 15 tests.

Agree Beads. I wouldn't drop Lee yet, but Siddle...he should never have been picked in the first place. He's an inaccurate version of Stuart Clark. LOLZ

If Stuart Clark was playing I think Lee would be gone but because we have no experience he has to stay. It is a shame he doesn't really deserve his spot but how do we know the likes of Bollinger and Hilfy will actually be up to the task especially in a boxing day test.

Hauritz is a better bowler than Krejza so I have no problem with that selection.

What about Nathan Bracken ?

Dominates in one dayers, can swing the ball, is very economical and has a better first class bowling average than Lee, Johnson, Siddle, Hilfenhaus and Bollinger.

He's too girly to play Test cricket.

Bracken had his chance but didn't produce the goods.. He is also left handed and I can't see the selectors picking two lefties in the same team.

Dropping Krezja is ludicrous, he needs a proper run and plenty of support from the ACB if he is to turn into a good or even great spinner for Australia. Playing Shield won't do that, we need to expose him at the highest level and support him.

One wonders had we been one nil up after Perth even if he hadn't necessarily taken anymore wickets than he did and leaked the same amount of runs that he did whether the selectors would have given him time, but due to it only being 3 Tests and we are one down we are chasing our tails and need to go conservative to bring it back to one all.

Exactly Russo. Australia's selectors seem to be knee jerkers. Something goes wrong, change it immediately. Matches Ponting's captaincy. Put fielders where balls just got hit in the air.

I can't believe everyone is so surprised that Krejza got dropped.

You guys do realise that the guy averages almost 50 in First Class cricket right?

He is a bum that got lucky in a one-off test on a spinner-friendly wicket in India. He is a joke and should never have played for Australia.
