I can't believe everyone is so surprised that Krejza got dropped.

You guys do realise that the guy averages almost 50 in First Class cricket right?

He is a bum that got lucky in a one-off test on a spinner-friendly wicket in India. He is a joke and should never have played for Australia.

And have a look at who else we could have chosen............ Cameron White.......Hauritz........Bob from the Wagga Wagga 11.

He was the only option at the time. But if the pick Huaritz or Krejza they need to give them a series. NZ wasnt a decent series as we actually bowled them out four times.

I accept that he should probably have been picked for the Indian Test, but no way should be be given another go after that Perth Test.

The guy is not successful in State cricket. Do you understand what that means? Averages nearly 50. That is fkn terrible. Not even close to Test standard. He is the best spinner? Fine, don't pick one.

Good point Robbie. If there's not a GOOD spinner, don't pick one.

Looking at the Sheffield Shield averages this year, I don't see any standouts:

I still can't understand the obsession with picking a spinner, really I can't. By all means, if there is one that can actually take wickets and the pitch will take some, pick him. But just to pick a spinner for the sake of having a spinner is unimaginative and stupid IMO. Right now we don't have a spinner up to the task, therefore we should not have one in the side. Simple as that.

There's certainly none that would do much better a job than part timers like Clarke and Symonds.

Clarke is the best spinner in Australia right now. As sick as that is it is the truth.

Robbie I do understand that an average of 50 for a bowler is bad but like Coxy was saying there aint much else.

Might as well use Bracken bowling spin.

Pick 3 decent pace bowlers - Lee need not apply and leave Symonds and Clarke for any spin.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I have been saying right from the start.

It reminds me of the old days when everyone was obsessed with having right-left opening batsmen.

Given the squad they've picked for Melbourne, this is the team I'd choose:

Hayden
Katich
Ponting (c)
Hussey
Clarke
Symonds
Watson
Haddin
Lee
Johnson
Hilfenhaus

Siddle 12th man

Batting all the way down to Johnson at number 10. Hilfenhaus for swing, Lee gets another chance, Johnson the strike bowler, Watson a good change bowler, plus Symonds and Clarke there for variation.

Yes, that is the side I would choose.

That's good, but maybe have Johnson batting at #9 instead of Lee.

Lee used to be good at hanging around while scoring a few runs but he thinks he's a batsman now but hangs around as long as Hayden does.

I'd punt Symonds and bring in another bowler. 2 all rounders + 3 bowlers is stupid, we need wickets not runs IMO.

Hayden, Katich, Ponting, Hussey, Clarke, Watson, Haddin, Lee, Johnson, Hauritz, Hilfenhaus

Four solid quicks, plus a spinner and Clarke if need be. The batting is still very strong, as Lee, Johnson and Hauritz are all more than competant.

I would be happy if the selectors just swapped Hilfy with Siddle it would give our attack another dimension.. IMO if this test was being played at another venue Siddle wouldn't have played..

Just saw the lineup for the first time...Siddle...AGAIN?!?!? KHHAAAAAAN!

I don't normally like to be negative about my Aussie cricket team but I can see the dominance of Australia in world cricket is coming to a screeching halt.. If the selectors decide to choose the right side we might be a chance of performing better. The Selectors have to realize we can;t carry players anymore..

Another shit day of cricket from the Aussies. Hayden and Hussey have to be in doubt.

Hussey isn't in doubt he has age and decent form behind him Hayden has nothing and will not play in Sydney if the Ausssies lose this test..
