Nothing in my post is based on faith. It's based on the current reality and common sense.Well, we will see what the club does and what happens won't we.
You have a lot more faith in the current administration than I do, that's good.
If you think otherwise, point me towards the flaw(s) in my thinking.
Despite the Kennedy situation, this administration has handled recruitment pretty well imo. The last bad stuff-up was Inglis, and we all know what the reason was behind that.
Of course, people will argue about this year's 5/8 situation, and that is to a point fair enough. But it's something that developed from previous years, where our bets on Norman/Hunt/Prince and Wallace failed and to top it up, then the Milford situation happened and the two guys whom were closest to get the job, suffered long term injuries (Kahu and Taylor). The fact Hook is completely averse to risk doesn't help either, because we might be rubbing our hands in joy if he took a gamble on one of our young guys, instead of derping it up with the "safe" Hoggman.
All in all, you can't argue the fact we will be in a great position to negotiate in the off-season, be it for Hunt, DCE or both.
We don't need to be in a hurry to sign Benny, as long as we make sure that in due time, we'll put an offer on the table that is reflective of his value, as well as our loyalty and respect for his patience with us.
