Ben Hunt - Appreciation Thread

Well, we will see what the club does and what happens won't we.

You have a lot more faith in the current administration than I do, that's good.
Nothing in my post is based on faith. It's based on the current reality and common sense.
If you think otherwise, point me towards the flaw(s) in my thinking.

Despite the Kennedy situation, this administration has handled recruitment pretty well imo. The last bad stuff-up was Inglis, and we all know what the reason was behind that.

Of course, people will argue about this year's 5/8 situation, and that is to a point fair enough. But it's something that developed from previous years, where our bets on Norman/Hunt/Prince and Wallace failed and to top it up, then the Milford situation happened and the two guys whom were closest to get the job, suffered long term injuries (Kahu and Taylor). The fact Hook is completely averse to risk doesn't help either, because we might be rubbing our hands in joy if he took a gamble on one of our young guys, instead of derping it up with the "safe" Hoggman.

All in all, you can't argue the fact we will be in a great position to negotiate in the off-season, be it for Hunt, DCE or both.
We don't need to be in a hurry to sign Benny, as long as we make sure that in due time, we'll put an offer on the table that is reflective of his value, as well as our loyalty and respect for his patience with us.

The only one you need to cross off that list is Brandon Lee who is not really a spine player.
Yeah, but the does a good job of it. Obviously, he's not the first choice... Cullen would probably be ahead of him too.

Hunt is now equal 1st on the Dally M leaderboard, with 2 points against the Sharks, as voting goes behind closed doors.

- Second, the Broncos have burned themselves before, by re-signing a player while he was on a purple patch of form, only to end up having an overpaid player hogging the salary cap.

Yes....by God, YES !!

The last thing we need is to be forced to live through another Peter Wallace experience.

Thurston and Hayne are too dominant in their sides not to pretty much get 3 points whenever they win.

We have a brutal run home, I can't see Hunt winning from here.

Still an amazing achievement though.

Probably right, but the same is equally true of Hunt relative to our team. Hayne is a bit injury prone, and Cowboys are rotten away from home. I think the Eels have quite a few away games too.

Ben's an outside chance but anything is possible. One can dream. It would be fantastic if he won it, considering how long he's waited for his shot.

Hunt or DCE?

original

DCE - #7. Hunt - #6. Giddy up?

i just worry that if dce joins the broncos, griffindor will put ben hunt back at utility/bench hooker and keep hoffman at 5/8th. nothing surprises me anymore with that coach

what makes you think Griffin is going to be around to make those decisions ?

If that happened, I would be the first at Red Hill with a pitchfork in one hand, torch in the other, and a backpack with a good 20 meters of solid rope!

This situation would only be preferable if it turned out Barba not playing at his potential is his own problem, not one forced on him by Griffin. If that did turn out to be the case, I would take Milford in the 1, Hunt and DCE in the 6 and 7 and Barba exiled to QLD Cup until he found his form again.

By that time however, Milford and Cherry Evans would have already begun building symmetry in the squad, so Barba either takes Hoffman's wing spot if he doesn't want it or ***** off.

He seems to be stepping up to bring games home only to be let down by others in the team, he'll still score points on the run home.

And no doubt selling tickets to the show :)

Ben hunt needs the Broncos playing well to get the Dally M and that won't be easy with their run home

Admittedly he'll need a few wins, but I still reckon he's picking up 1 or 2 points in our losses.

When did the opinions of Brad Fittler, Darryl Halligan, Greg Alexander, Phil Rothfield and Ben Ikin begin to matter for the Broncos?

Dally Ms are a joke. Wally voted on Friday and gave points to Hunt and Glenn over Gallen which is a rort.

Andrew Johns voted for the Newcastle game and gave all his points to Knights players even though the likes of Scott and Gagai had no where near the amount of impact as Hayne.

The BHQ award is the only award that matters. Believe the hype.

The last thing we need is to be forced to live through another Peter Wallace experience.

So the Wallace experience means we avoid locking away potential superstars for now on?

Wallace with Lockyer was a great fit for the team and worth the cash, Wallace without Locky was a train wreck and not worth the cash.

Hunt without anyone is a great fit for the team and worth the cash, Hunt with Milford you'd expect is going to be a great fit for the team and worth the cash.

I get the feeling we're all counting our chickens before they hatch regarding Milford. The same positive vibes were being trumpeted around this forum regarding both Kennedy & Barba when they signed, now some people are demanding those players move on!
