NEWS Ben Ikin to step back from Roster input

The Broncos, where they stand now, are the sums of all their parts.

IMO .. the players stabilised more effectively because Ben was there. I also believe that desirable players from other teams would also recognise the intelligence and RL smarts, among many other skills that Ben displays .. and may have been attracted to our club by that.

Some may feel that might be a very long bow to draw .. but a lot of the players would have listened to Ben during his time on 360 .. and liked, appreciated, and respected what they heard.
I would be concerned if players are watching 360, they don't exactly have much more brain cells to lose.

Sad news.
Ive never been a big Ikin fan, both as a footballer, and his post career endeavors, but there is no doubt he loved the club and wanted to do his best for the Broncos.

Hope he gets a good gig somewhere.

I think that is an extremely long bow.

Have any/all players come out and stated how wonderful Ben has been for them/the club? I like Ben and would suck to see him go but I very much doubt things fall apart because he's not there. We're doing a disservice to Dave, Kev and the other personal that started this change before Ben joined the club.

Hahahah. Did you miss all the subliminal messaging that was going on then? 🤓😆

It's fine the believe that. But he could be an absolute ****, hence he's downgraded to opening the shed doors. We don't know.

I'm not doing anyone a disservice. In fact the very first thing I said was that where the Broncos stand now .. is the sums of ALL the parts. I was giving everyone at The Broncos recognition for bringing The Broncos to where they currently stand. 🤷‍♀️

However, the main topic here is Ben. That is why I singled him and the part he played out.

You're right, that comment was more addressed to the forum rather than just you.

You did say that the players stabilised more effectively under Ben which I don't really agree with. I think having Arey, Capewell and upcoming captain in Carrigan with a second pre-season had more of an impact on the playing group.

There is still little evidence of his “skills” in the role, having never having done it before, and lasting only six months in it at the broncos - during which time he lost out in a power struggle with KEVIN WALTERS!

Either way Donuts doesn’t come out looking good given Ikin is collecting $350k a year to basically be a footy manager. I’m sure boxhead wasn’t getting paid half that much!

If or when the Broncos find the need to have a genuine football manager, I’d like to see them bring in a genuine football manager, ie a Frank Ponissi or someone with experience who can really add value in the role..
