NEWS Ben Ikin to step back from Roster input

Because the big mouthed buffalo wouldn’t keep his mouth shut but talks filth.

Ikin isn't going to get influenced by what people say in the media. He's gone for the Broncos CEO job in the past so it seems a CEO role is a goal for him.

He's done his job at the Broncos, there isn't much left for him to do so now it's time to move onto the next challenge.

Regardless of what Tallis said, Ikin was always going to go for it.

Tallis can get fucked. Thanks for turning up for a free feed to ‘mend fences’ - Ikin took a job at the club and helped restore some dignity in the place.

No beef with Ikin moving on if he wants, I just hope there’s no bad blood there because looking in from the outside it took DD, Kev and Ikin all working together to get things on track.

doubt it had any impact on Ikin's decision
Well, it could’ve made Ikin to explore opportunities outside & QRL role would be perfect for him. I believe partly it’s DD’s fault that he didn’t set up right expectations from the get go as to what Ikin’s role is.
I still wonder why Kev felt insecure having Ikin around? If at all, the man is full of knowledge with astute planning & thought process which could’ve helped Kev immensely.

For someone outside like me, it appears that he has done an exceptional job in getting us out of a shit rabble and instilling some common sense. Perhaps it’s time for him to take up a role that suits him better. My only hope is, there were no bridges burned & we could always lean back on him if the need be.

I don't really understand. The media are belting it out as a rift between him and kevy but he just got a better job. He's been in his current role for a few years now. Things move quickly in the corporate world. I'm sure he did a good job at the broncs and best of luck if he gets a new gig.

This is a big loss for the Broncos, Ikin came in and money-balled the team roster. He sowed the seeds, the tree has blossomed with fruits this season only for Kevvie to take credit for the team's success. Hope he comes back one day when the circumstances are a better fit.

It is a loss but if you play the long game here, it might benefit us. He’ll get CEO experience and one day will be a ready replacement for Donuts when he calls it a day (hopefully a long time into the future).

This was in progress well before Ikin.

Kev started the process with an interim CEO ... DD joined and helped ... Ikin was last to the party

We were still pretty crap until last year.

Last year was Kevvies second in charge.

It takes time to make changes to the squad.

E.g. in Kevvies first year, he had to make do with Milf and croft on the halves ... on his second year he'd upgraded to Reynolds

Indeed. Not that we are privy to who does what exactly but Ikin deserves his share of the credit for how things are going.

Meh. Everyone assumes he's done all this amazing work. I can't see any reason to attribute the change in the club to him and not DD.
I think similar, he doesn't have a proper GM role like Gould did at Penrith and now at Dogs, he was under the coach, sounds like he was an extra voice in signings alongside Kevvie and Scanlan.

The Broncos, where they stand now, are the sums of all their parts.

IMO .. the players stabilised more effectively because Ben was there. I also believe that desirable players from other teams would also recognise the intelligence and RL smarts, among many other skills that Ben displays .. and may have been attracted to our club by that.

Some may feel that might be a very long bow to draw .. but a lot of the players would have listened to Ben during his time on 360 .. and liked, appreciated, and respected what they heard.
