My question is, will they be moving Gidley to the halves when Bennett makes his choice?

I like your question.

Re: is the master coming home

Guys, this thread is about WB.

You can chat about potential signings such as Darius Boyd in the 'Player Movements' thread. icon_thumbs_u

Re: is the master coming home

Boyd is rubbish in the centres

What do you mean we will be in the same position again in 2 years?? In 2 years Hook will take over from Bennett. But if we tell Bennett to piss off then Hook will be our coach still in 2 years. So whats the difference? Same outcome except Hook would have gained some epic and invaluable experience being his under study.

Ummmmm for most of last week the majority on here were saying if Bennett comes back, Locky will be his understudy and then be our coach in 2 years time. OK so maybe no-one said that specifically, but it has certainly been the vibe around here since Locky announced his retirement - my point being that is a very different scenario from Bennett not coming back and Griffin being given the gig more long-term.

At the end of the day ATM none of us know where Bennett is going to be and in what capacity next year let alone 2 years from now and until he officially announces we are all going to have our own opinions and preferences.

But I can see what Dragg X is saying - in the eyes of many we have been "unsuccessful" since Bennett left. So say he comes back and we win another premiership (or more), then when he announces he is leaving again however many years from now, there will be mass panic because we've still "not had any success" without him; whereas if he doesn't come back at all or he comes back and doesn't have the same success, people will feel better about the situation of him leaving.

Hole in one. Thankyou for explaining it better.

While i would prefer the club didnt get wayne, AND i wouldnt be upset if they missed the 8 with him so as to show that he is no longer what Brisbane need... I will still support the club regardless..

Oxymoron. I'd support the club, but I'd want the club to fail. So... are you supporting the club, or trying to deathride it? You can't have it both ways.

I just won't be happy with the clubs choice and i will be the first to say Shit happens when we miss the 8.
Which is fine, no one ever has to accept the clubs choices with 100% blind faith. But to want the team to fail so you can vindicate your own point of view is retarded, and not the perspective of someone who is a true fan.

Feel free to support another team, seeing as vindicating your own point of view is more important than the clubs success, jackass.

is the master coming home

I choose long term success over short term.

And since I was given a warning for calling someone a dick I guess calling someone a jackass would fall in the same line..

Now how do u report post on tapatalk..

FB explained my point alot better further up so feel free to read her post.

is the master coming home

As for your true fan statement ask anyone to pick between 2yrs success right now or many years success after that and most would choose the second option.

The casual fans would drop someone who is doing the long term job in favor of someone who can do the short term because they need success now or they lose interest.

Ummm - show me where Dragg X said in this quote or anywhere else that he wants the club to fail - he has always said that if Bennett came back and we still didn't win another premiership (or even if we missed the 8) under his stewardship, then Draggx wouldn't be that torn up by it and it would in fact help the club to move on from Bennett when he hangs up his clipboard for good.

Seriously some people on here just want to be hating on anyone who doesn't just blindly support whatever the club does and mis-interpret/twist what people write to make it look bad when it isn't really bad at all

is the master coming home

Doesn't help my case that I've been using tapatalk mostly this weekend and i don't pay to much attention to how I word things. But yeah glad someone else can see my point of view.

If WB does come back to Brisbane, I hope we miss the 8 while he is head coach.

I accept that maybe draggx didn't mean this 100% literally, or has since changed his mind or whatever, but you can see where people got the impression he wants the club to fail.

That being said, I get the whole hesitation about going backwards that a few people have expressed. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet to be honest.

Re: is the master coming home

worded wrong indeed, but even worded right i would have got the same response anyway.

But i do think it looks like for the Club to move on and worry about our next great coach instead of running back to WB everytime things get hard, we need to feel failure under WB. Untill that happens every coach after him will "suck" in the fans eyes.

Re: is the master coming home

WB is coming. Boyd is coming. Lets END THREAD.

I'm not sure how choosing Bennett, who is going to be here at least 3 years by his own words, if he came here, is choosing short term success over long term. 3 years would be starting to verge on medium term, by which time you could introduce Lockyer and or Griffin (seeing as he said he'd happily accept an assistants role, and all we can go on at this stage is his word).

Oh yes, I want to hate on Draggx cause he doesn't agree with the club and or its intentions. Nevermind the fact I conceded it would be stupid to blindly put 100% faith in whatever the club did. No, I want to hate on draggx cause his logic is retarded. Oh wait, I mean his ability to string his thoughts together. How silly of me. It's always the way you word it that is the problem. I'm guessing when he said he wanted them to miss the 8 if we hired Bennett, that was merely a case of lingusitics, rather than a stupid thought process?

Your aforementioned quote smacks of irony.

draggx said:

Ohh woe is you, how do you ever go on in life with so many people always on your back? No, Draggx, I wouldn't have called you a jackass (although thoroughly deserved, warning or no warning) if you had of presented your thoughts in a more reasonable manner. But seeing as you didn't, I gave you the response you deserved.

Why do we need to feel failure? It's not as if we won the premiership every year under Bennett. All we expect is to make the finals, and everyone couple of years have a red hot go at the title. Considering we've got roughly a 50% chance of making the finals every year based purely on the participating teams and the top 8 finals concept, that's not a huge ask. Bennett can provide us with this, as evidenced by his time here, and his time at St George.

Asking anything less is accepting mediocrity. Brisbane have never done this, and I hope to god they never do. If they do, to quote Nashy from another thread, that's when Brisbane become just another side.

is the master coming home

The thing that annoys me is that if Bennett comes back in 2012 and we win the premiership in 12 or 12, everyone will be all "all hail the great Bennett!!", when all the hard and good work was done by henjak and griffin.

2009 and 2010 were what our club needed. The playing roster was gutted from the WB days, and filled with young guys fresh out of high school, and a gameplan that consisted of more than hitups and kicks. They're now finding their feet, showing potential to be stars (not all obviously), and NONE of that was because of Bennett. but like with saints, he'll reap the rewards of someone elses hard work, and get all the credit.

woa woa woa hold up! hey~~~~

On the saints comment - disagree... we all know Saint's weakness over the years was POOR discipline and shocking ball control. WB comes in - BOOM. Suddenly they are one of the most disciplined teams and starve the opposition quality field position and possession. No coincidence. You can't deny he mad a change at the Dragons... it was practically there from DAY 1. He said it himself - The Dragoons were not a basket case... there a few things missing and he put them in place. Those few things are ingredients to win a title - as history shows.

No Professor47 don't!

This topic is like AP's 'bird is the word'.

Re: is the master coming home

This thread is about to start spiralling out of control, I can see it now.

Long term success IMO would be the worlds best coach showing a new coach how to do a good job. Not the Broncos using trial and error till we get a half decent coach.
