A guy from work got on Oceanographer a while ago at triple figures. Apparently.

Big call but good luck to him. It's always a worry when the plan was to go straight into the cup but connections were forced to run in the Lexus to ensure a start. If it can back up Oceanographer can win. The cup is just a guess these days with the internationals and if Big Orange dictates a slow tempo again then anything can happen just like last year.

That tempo just takes away any type of staying test and turns it into a sprint home, so any light weight that gets a good run can sneak up behind the leaders when they fan and produce a big finish.

I'm assuming (hoping) the Goldophin camp will make sure of a good tempo with so many in the race.

I have backed Almandin and Oceanographer and will have a crack at the tri.

I like Shillelagh in race 10 it's 11 to 1 fixed ATM Joe Moreira on board.

I am finding it hard to not load up on Hartnell TBH. I do like Almandin and Grey Lion too.

Wicklow Brave and Heartbreak City for me. Plus various other dabbles of course. I have question marks over Hartnell for sure, it will all depend on the pace I guess.

Nice win Almandin and got the tri twice and Quin a few times. I love the big pools on Cup day.

Well done to all who took Almandin. Especially those who got on at $17's. Thought I was in there with Heartbreak City but thankfully got on Almandin late for $12. It was good to see a quality Melbourne Cup again.

Up $400 on the day. Landed the tridents in the Cup plus another trifecta. Only betting small but happy days. Had a 5% of the quaddie too.

Had a fiver on Almandin and also got him in the $5.00 sweep at work (which I organised!).

Happy times continue so far on Oaks day. I've found the winners of race 1 and 3 at 21s and 9.50. Winning day no matter what now.
The track is a raging leader bias so find something that has an inside alley and likes to lead/be on pace and you won't be far off.

Interesting how the Oaks will go now. Yankee Rose will probably be to good but the track bias brings her back a touch.

Emirates: Hauraki, Palentino and Tivaci all e.w
Darley: what a race. Can make claims for all though will stick with Fell Swoop along with The Quarterback and Turn me Loose at big odds (got at 71).
