I can see all 3 playing again next week, that will be the more important game as we should be at a Round 1 level squad.

Realistically the job should just go to whoever Reynolds wants because that’s the most important aspect of their job is putting the ball where Adam wants it

As if. Walters made one mistake but otherwise was the only hooker who looked like he could set anything up. Paix can run, but looks like he doesn’t know how to do anything else. Smoothy was invisible and somehow still looked gassed for most of the time he was on the field.

Walters was by far the only hooker who did anything worthwhile on the field and that fame wasn’t decided because of our hookers.

Penalties and handling were terrible and that reffing in the 2nd half was abhorrent.

We need to talk about Paix by the way. Why isn’t he improving, skills and fitness-wise?

I don't think he was too bad. He really gets our forwards moving up the field well. But yea, from that game you would think we stuck with the Walters/Paix combo.

I get that Kevin needs to figure out who is first choice hooker is but playing 3 different hookers across a game where there were juniors etc playing half of it doesn't really allow for a fair comparison between any of them. Also have no chance to judge their fitness. Really no point playing Billy in that imo. Would've thought having Smoothy and Paix battle it out in this one to get a crack at the next trial with Billy would've been better.

The Broncos depth is that shot that they had little choice but to play all their NRL contracted players. Plus, Smoothy has some utility as a 13, so it was a good opportunity to test that.

Not that incredible. Favouritism exists in pretty much every workplace. Whether it be in nepotism or some other form. Pretty common-place….not that incredible at all.

Thanks for the history lesson. My own theory on why billy spent the last six rounds on the bench is because he is a rubbish defender and dad kevvie wanted to cover that up. Bring him on once the opposition is a bit worn out and he won’t look as rubbish as he is.

Well 5 of the 6 games.

There was an element of that, also if you're going to play Turpin you may as well have him play to his strengths which was his defence ala Mitch Kenny for the Panthers.

However Round 2-5 show that Billy was viewed as the utility.

Paix and Walters are both capable of scooping the ball to whomever's beside them in a reasonable timeframe. Both make ineffective scoots out of dummy half that lead to nothing. Paix looks a bit faster. Walters always looks serious. Neither looks like they have a wider vision of the game. If that's all you need from dummy half, they'll do at a pinch.

I thought Smoothy brought some authority to the position in his first stint, but by the end of the game when he'd been switched into some utility forward/half role I'd given up caring who was better. He probably didn't stand out enough to wrest the position from Paix.

We all saw this coming from a long way out and here we are again. Billy Walters will remain in the side until he's injured or his father is sacked. One thing we know for certain is whoever's coaching our hookers is shit at his job.

9. Smoothy
14. Walters
18. Paix

Smoothy was King of the shit pile based on the trial. None of them can last 20 minutes before turning to shit.
