Brisbane Broncos Sign Mitch Garbutt till 2017

I think this is a pretty astute signing. Its obvious we need some depth in the front row and whilst Garbutt is inexperienced it is well worth the risk imo.

700k for 3 years is below average wage for an NRL player in the top 25. Even if he cements a bench spot for 3 years we got a bargain for a prop.

He was out of favor, he had problems in his game. He ran sideways too much and forced a lot of offloads. Ever since his former coach Craig Miller pointed that out, he has been a far better prop. One of the standouts in the reserve grade. He has started playing more direct and doesn't try forcing unnecessary offloads.

We have signed a good one. He will be a great signing for us.

I think you're going a bit over the top there. Glasby, Spina and Griffin are all having better years in the ISC. He's a big unit that runs well and has a nice little step and quick over short distances- scored a try this year that shows all these skills v Jets.

Defence isn't an issue.

Good signing.

Some of you are hard to please, when the Broncos miss out on good ISC players like Munster etc you complain- when they sign one you complain why would you sign a ISC player.

(Easts are the tv game this week, so you might well see Mitch v Petero) Provided Petero plays and Garbutt isn't with the Storm.

Can he play this week??? Please???

Joel Clinton
Ashton Sims
Scott Anderson
Lama Tasi
Martin Kennedy
Mitchell Garbutt

I don't think the article does him any favours for next year.

I think any player the Broncos sign will have high expectations on them. Hopefully the big fella can live up to them.

Now we just need to somehow get Mose Masoe and we will be laughing.

i like this signing. i've seen him play a few times for the storm and wondered why he wasn't getting more NRL time. that runaway try he scored in the 9s shows he aint just a one dimensional bopper either.

hope he fulfils his potential. could be a very valuable signing for us. fingers crossed on this one

Very hard to please.

Funny thing is the same people that are condemning the signing would be saying "why didn't we sign him, we need props FFS" if he signed elsewhere

Looks promising............230k a year isnt much these days. Probably equivalent to 130-140 a few years ago.

He is a good signing, he is actually in the Lawrence mould, so if he is 3/4 as good, we've got a great prop.

Having seen some highlights and with Super Freak's explanation I'm now quite happy with this signing. If I didn't know his age I'd have been happy from the off but it did throw off some flags. Doesn't seem like it should matter though and it really is a great price considering the upside.

On a not really related note, it also goes to show how great of value Jack Reed is, considering he is only on 250k a year!

He'll need to play a lot better than those stats though.

Agree although a couple of the later games had him making a tackle a minute ......not too bad!

"Garbutt" sound like Garbage Butt. Hope I'm wrong.

I just really hope he has the Beard next season. Our team lacks Beard.
