Hey guys I don't usually post on forums however I want a say at the current events this is my first post go the broncs!!!!
I find it absolutely disgraceful that all these new allegations are coming to light after the nightclub incident. Could these people be any more obvious in there attempts to tarnish the reputation of the Broncos for their own personal gain. I am referring to the incident involving the alleged "tackle" of locky on the guy from Casablanca’s. I have seen the footage and if you can tell that it is Darren Lockyer then you have some sort of super keen vision. What a load of crap. Oh and apparently it happened 2 weeks ago so we'll just go to the media now and jump on the band wagon. Shame on you. How much money did the media pay you for that story? I hope the boys thrash the crap out of Melbourne on sat night and show true character. Instead of bagging our players how about we support them and leave the rest of these allegations up to the police and management. Bronco's management have shown in the past that they are fair in their dealings with breaches of discipline of their players.

I don't think we have heard the last of "alleged bronco's incidents". And Darren if you need it to be it was me that tackled old mate at Casablanca’s cause in that video it could have been Kevin Rudd for all we know.

Anyways that's my 5 cents. Go the Bronco's!!!!!

Unfortunately there's not really a clear response to any allegation thrown at any high profile person.

People may do it for money, the high profile player may do it because of their status in the real world.

You never know, and even if the broncos are cleared, this will hang over their heads for a long time. I think that in light of these allegations, I hope a few Broncos really wake up to the fact that people especially children, look up to them, and they need to start being a part of society instead of deliberately removing themselves from it.

Yes, they were chosen to play sport, but you can be responsible as well. You don't have to throw a bottle into a window, or a girls face, to prove who you are.

But being responsible is hard when there is a culture of drinking and juvinile behaviour. The media cover the players doing the naff mad monday dressups and even talk about players avoiding doing a nudie if they manage to score a try late in the season.

It would have been a lot different if the bloke I locked up a few weeks back for a nudie run was a member of the Raiders or the Brumbies. Wouldnt have minded too much if it was member of the Canberra Capitals tho ;)

Problem is that mud sticks best to bigger targets. It's just like if a student makes an accusation of sexual misconduct against a teacher. There may be absolutely no basis for it, but that teacher's reputation is forever stained.

So it is with high profile people. Some nuffie just has to ring a talkback radio program, or write a letter to the editor or report to police any kind of bullshit and despite how baseless the allegation may be, the person's reputation is smeared.

The ultimate solution is to be a total hermit and not venture in public, but that doesn't even always work (see the late Graham Kennedy). And why end your right to a social life to avoid this?

It's a very simple solution. Avoid establishments with lots of drunk, loose people. Avoid being drunk and out of control in public yourself. Avoid fraternising with people you don't know beyond chatting politely. Approach any stranger not with suspicion, but with due care and caution.

I don't see how that's so hard. It's a small price to pay for the life of playing a sport you love for a living.

Can someone tell me what's so wrong with having a barbie at one of the players houses? Get as drunk as you like, say what you like, do what you like. I can't remember which player it was but I remember hearing someone say that their team used to just have parties at each others houses, close the front door, pull the garage door down and no one can get in any trouble. They absolutely have a right to be out and socialise the way everyone else does, but surely they can keep the really drunken escapades to someone's private house??

Anthony Laffranchi and the Tigers eusa_think
Doesn't make a damn difference where they party.

That was after partying all night somewhere else though. I'm talking about just having your mates round, getting blotto if that's what you want to do and keeping it all to yourselves and friends.

Surely they'd still be capable of picking up chicks without being completely wasted out on the town? I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem.

Big toe.

Deadset, if I ever meet a journo that admits to me that he has twisted the truth or just lied to get a story. they're getting a punch in the face.

 never been to a party then?

fair enough Emma, but i'm just saying that even having a bbq at a mate's place isn't going to protect you. Laffranchi might not have been out and about, but you never know who your mates are gonna bring to a party. Of course it's a little safer.

Ummm I've never tried to pick up chicks before.
Me either, but I met an ex at a party. A complete stranger/random. It happens more often than not.

I get what you're saying, but Laffranchi had picked her up at a club somewhere earlier in the night/morning and didn't know her from a bar of soap. It would be a lot less likely you'd get into that sort of trouble if you were at a mates place and just hooked up with a friend of a friend.

Make sure you don't invite the hot chick next door though.

That's probably the appeal. Go out, pick up a random girl for a one night stand and never see them again. If you hook up with a friend of a friend there's more chances of seeing them again at another social function.

What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger... Bennett will have the boys ready for the game even more than if we had no dramas at all this week. We all know the media are scum they make up crap all the time.. Let them bash the broncos we can take it better than any other club in the comp!

So in summary.....lock them up after training every day? Total alcohol ban all year? Let's just hire a wing at Sir David Longlands and straight after every game, they can go back to their cells.

Players do need to understand their role, however in reality they are people. And we all need to let our hair down. The real problem is the culture;

So many footy fans, some on this very forum, have laughed and giggled at the carry on in such shows, like The Footy Show? Where they have laughed about and endorsed (by showing pictures of and talking favourably about mad monday's etc) drinking and partying.
