I'd prefer to see Glenn starting over Gillett as long as he's played properly, Gillett and Oates on bench along with Garbutt and Gavet.
At least Bennett is recognising that we need more size to compete with the top clubs.
Dont mind Waddell but don't see the point in having a utility unless they provide some form of spark ( think Segeyaro at cows )

Yeah just seems like a lot of guessing by whoever wrote this. Who hasn't been a front runner for the utility spot over the last few weeks?

I think some of these players need to know they will be dropped if they don't perform out of their skin week in and week out. All we want from them is to put in the little 1%ers that they've lacked in the past 2 seasons.
Glenn had a great debut season and even scored the most tries for a forward in the comp in 2011. Since then his mediocre performances have been due to the fact that he's been comfortable with Griffins lacklasture stance to drop any of his 20s boys of 08.
I think this will bring the best out of Glenn and if it doesn't, frankly, as much as I love him, he should be spending time in the Qld Cup to give him a reality check. And then we give Oates, Ofahengaue, Molo, Adams etc a spot on the bench to see if they can shine in first grade.
Same goes for Gillett (although he's had better recent seasons then Glenn - like making origin and oz) and Thaiday, Reed, Maranta etc. And even our bench boys aren't safe. I definately love our depth though, it's very Panthers2014-like. Meaning we could lose a backrower or a fullback/centre or two and still be able to cover with a quality player. Half back Hunt is our big key though, we can't afford to lose him or else we'll be asking Taylor/Nikorima a big ask.

I wouldn't say he got comfortable...at least yet. The one thing I took out of Glenn's performance is that he WAS trying. The real shitlord here was Griffin and his coaching plan that didn't use him in a proper way (we've only used hole running on a grand total of about 5 occasions all season).

You can't really do much when your method of attack is completely taken away from the side. He still managed to chip in with some good yards, which is more than you can say for someone like Thaiday.

I can't imagine this article will win Bennett too many fans on here.

I don't believe the names mentioned for bench spots though, they're all FRF which means thaiday, gillett, and Parker will all be playing 80 mins.

I'm also pretty sure Brnnett personally re-signed Corey Oates so it's hard to imagine he won't be there abouts. Unless we go with a wing pair of Vidot and Oates, which would be very Tequiri/Saylor.

I've got no problem with a bench hooker if he's good and can provide impact, especially as I really don't want McCullough playing the full 80 minutes if possible.

I'd prefer him playing the full 80 minutes if his replacement on the bench is Glenn or Waddell though.

He has a 80 minute hooker, he has Glenn who is able to play hooker (scored a good try playing hooker in Canberra this year) and centre easily so yes he is a utility and a shit load of up and coming forwards. There is no need for a Waddell, Parcell and for now a Nikorima

The same quotes were just posted on the Broncos website.. so yeah, nothing shady going on from the media, Bennett is 100% using 3 props and 1 utility on the bench, said by the man himself.

What's the best case scenario here..?

I guess that's it.. Dodds or Wallace could get a spot on the bench, but I really don't rate them that highly.. Can't believe Oates is going to miss out.

Hmm, Oates has played winger and centre before. Could he technically be classed as a utility by WB? I doubt it, but I too would be very disappointed to see him left out.

As for the utility going by standard definitions, I'm most definitely hoping to see Jikorima. I'm most definitely expecting it won't be.

If Ofahengaue can get one of those spots that will be something, but at the expense of Oates? Not really a win in terms of what I wanted to see.

Or he is using Oates in the middle? We do have 4 rep back rowers, 3 of which can play the full 80 so he might have to play middle for a while, he's big enough

How is he 100% having three props on the bench? He said 3 big men. "Big men" isn't another term for prop. Corey Oates is 105kg and 190+ cm. that's a pretty big man.
