Broncos - 2015 Discussion

They did not!

I actually want to screen dump it and save it for posterity.

PS, but remember, these are the same people who have Thaiday at lock and Parker at 12.

Second row power rankings

I don't think the CM guys even watch rugby league, when was the last time CP13 actually played in the second row.

Last time I remember was for QLD in like 2012 or something

Which of these are harsh or unfair? They are all facts, media quotes, or in the players own words. The only person I was harsh on is Gavet because I accidentally said "dropped" instead of "let go".

I'm actually excited to see how Blair and Gavet go but on paper we must have he worst prop rotation in the NRL at this point.

There's no need for name calling and labelling...

Cherrington is doing really well he's doing a lot of off-field work for the Dolphins and has impressed, the Eels wanted him and he chose the ISC.

I'm pretty sure it's four knee ops as well not three.

Of course it was, but that's no reason to ruin the moment Pete.

Haha was thinking the same thing. I know it is to be near his kids but in my head i had this scenario

Eels: "we would like to offer you a contract for next year Anthony, we think you would be a great addition to this fine club

Cherrington: "**** that, if rather play for reddy"

The stupidity continues, although not as bad as some previous rankings. I would put the Sharks right up there, if their pack stays healthy.
McGuire & Blair as the 5th pair...

Now we’ve got a bit of time on our hands, we can consider the game’s big issues — like, which club has the best prop combination in the competition? Take a look at the list then have your say...
1. Cowboys (Matt Scott, James Tamou)
Starting Kangaroos props at their best, it’s no surprise that Scott and Tamou top our list. But If they are to retain the title of the game’s best pairing, Tamou will need to step-up in 2015. He battled through this season with a neck injury which took away from his ability to put his body on the line. After averaging 160 metres per game in 2014 and racking up 48 tackle busts, the ageing Scott needed surgery to repair his shoulder. His tenacity and courageous ball running will be vital to the Cowboys’ go-forward in 2015.
2. Bulldogs (James Graham, Aiden Tolman)
They look alike, the pale-skinned cannonballs even play alike, and together they helped carry the Bulldogs to a grand final appearance. Graham ended 2014 as the game’s most celebrated frontrower with the Dally M Prop of the Year gong. Tolman, on the other hand, is more the ‘no nonsense’ type of player who gets the job done with no fanfare. Tolman stepped out of Graham’s shadow in 2014 and even posted the better stats for metres gained and offloads.
3. Roosters (Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Sam Moa)
What do you get when you add Moa’s powerful running to Waerea-Hargreaves’ brutal approach? Possibly the most frightening forwards pairing in the competition. Both players withdrew from the Four Nations citing player burnout and they’ll be better for the extended rest come 2015 — which means opposition sides can expect plenty of headaches down the middle of the park next season.
4. Warriors (Ben Matulino, Jacob Lillyman)
A gritty duo whose contribution is usually overshadowed by the flashy, twinkle toes footy produced by Shaun Johnson and the backs. But not to be outdone, Matulino possesses some very impressive footwork for a big man — and he can rattle off some big hits. Lillyman’s career-best form was rewarded with an Origin call-up for the Maroons in 2014.
5. Broncos (Josh McGuire, Adam Blair)
In Bennett they trust. The Supercoach has cleared the decks upfront, ridding the rotation of Ben Hannant, Martin Kennedy and David Hala. In their place, the maligned Adam Blair was added to the roster. Blair was considered a big-money flop for most of his time at the Tigers but managed to defy some of the criticism after an improved showing in 2014. McGuire too has a lot to prove. The 24-year old was snubbed by Australian Test selectors for the Four Nations and is also keen to press for a spot in Queensland’s 17. Blair and McGuire’s partnership will allow Corey Parker and Sam Thaiday to switch to their preferred position in the back row.
6. Storm (Jesse Bromwich, Jordan McLean)
Bromwich keeps getting better with every game and has even drawn comparisons to the man they call ‘the brick with eyes’ — the legendary Glenn Lazarus. His NRL stats in 2014 rivalled the likes of Paul Gallen, Sam Burgess and Matt Scott. He took this form into the Four Nations for New Zealand and ended the tournament as the number one prop. McLean adds size and power to Melbourne’s line-up. McLean’s game can only benefit from partnering with Bromwich — who is brimming with confidence and coming of age as a prop forward.
7. Tigers (Aaron Woods, Keith Galloway)
Woods is in career-best form and he was duly rewarded with Origin and Test selection. With the Kangaroos lacking size and experience, the 23 year-old struggled to have any real impact during the Four Nations. Galloway will be the most experienced player in the prop rotation and will need to lead from the front. Woods, Galloway and Martin Taupau will form a decent combination who have the ability to stamp their authority on the opposition.
8. Rabbitohs (George Burgess, David Tyrrell)
George Burgess produced one of the best grand final performances by a front rower in recent memory. His effort was described as herculean. Standing at 194cm and weighing in at 120kgs, the behemoth decimated the opposition defence all season long. Tyrell’s contribution was admirable, with the 27 year-old playing every game during the regular season — the only Rabbitohs player to do so.
9. Sharks (Andrew Fifita, Sam Tagataese)
First Fifita broke his arm and then he badly injured his ankle ... all in the same game. That was just one bad day of the many in Fifita’s 2014, with injuries and personal issues spoiling his season. Fifita’s grit and never say die attitude will be vital to a club that is trying desperately to rebuild after the ASADA saga. The 25-year-old’s mix of athleticism and brute strength, coupled with Tagataese’s fearless approach makes them one of the competition’s most imposing combinations.
10. Eels (Junior Paulo, Tim Mannah)
Blue and gold wrecking ball Junior Paulo is likely to battle it out with Darcy Lussick for a starting spot in 2015. The 110kg giant has some pace and plenty of skill for a man his size. The other spot is all but sewn up by Mannah who has emerged as the side’s pack leader.
11. Sea Eagles (Brenton Lawrence, Willie Mason)
Mason is being credited with helping to lift the shroud of darkness at Manly following endless speculation of player disputes and internal turmoil. The 34 year-old says he’s ready to bring some old-fashioned mongrel and intimidation to Brookvale — two areas that need reinforcements due to the departures of pack leaders Anthony Watmough, Glenn Stewart and Jason King. Lawrence has been one of the finds of the last two season, with his speed and footwork adding a bit of X-factor to the Sea Eagles’ front row.
12. Titans (Luke Douglas, Ryan James)
A series of shoulder injuries has stiffiled James’ career so far. The 121kg monster packs plenty of size and power but has been unable to establish himself as a first grade regular. He only played a handful of games in 2014 due to an AC joint injury. Douglas is possibly the most durable man in rugby league. He played 215 consecutive NRL games only to have his streak end when he received an ASADA ban.
13. Panthers (Brett Kite, Sam McKendry)
McKendry’s season started with rumours that the hardworking forward was being shopped around to rival clubs — even though he still had two years left on his contract. But those rumours were put to bed when the Kiwi Test forward signed a three-year extension, effectively securing his services for the next five years. Kite joined the prestigious 300 club in 2014 and at 33 years old, the prop offers more than just size and strength — his experience is invaluable to a side filled with talented youngsters.
14. Raiders (Dane Tilse, David Shillington)
Monstrous, mobile and wrecking balls were the kind of words used to describe this forward pack in 2010. Five years on and the Raiders pack is merely a husk of what once was a well-oiled machine that would trample opponents. Experience and seniority will give Tilse and Shillington dibs on the starting spots. But those spots are far from secure with young prop Paul Vaughan continually improving and Papalii’s impressive effort up front for the Kangaroos during the Four Nations.
15. Dragons (Ben Creagh, Tyson Frizell)
With Dan Hunt out of favour at the Dragons, Frizell may well be one of the biggest beneficiaries in the roster overhaul currently under way at the Dragons. Much has been said of Frizell’s ability but he’s yet to fulfil his NRL potential. The 23-year old isn’t afraid to give it his all when running the ball, and when in form adds some much needed mongrel to the Dragons pack. Skipper Ben Creagh moved to the front row without too much success in 2014, but the make up of the side is likely to keep him there for another crack in 2015.
16. Knights (Kade Snowden, Jack Stockwell)
Snowden’s season ended after he received a three-month ASADA ban and Stockwell found himself on the scrap heap at the Dragons. Snowden established himself as a forward force to be reckoned with while at the Sharks but has never quite recaptured that form at Newcastle. Stockwell was picked up by new coach Rick Stone in an attempt to shore up his forward stocks after the club let go of Willie Mason, Adam Cuthbertson, Russell Packer and Zane Tetevano during 2014.

I don't know what more McGuire has to do to prove himself, he was snubbed because Sheens et al. are senile.
