Broncos - 2015 Discussion

Mcguires a good frontrower but hardly a world beater and frankly I'm surprised they have ranked them at five when Blair hasn't played a game for us. I like McGuire and he works very hard for the team but as I've said before he could play lock and Parker could be a wide running forward with great off loads, that would make me happy !

For me I would think the Sharks props are better and even Woods and Galloway would be above ours. They have 2015 to prove me wrong and boy, I hope they shut me up but good !

With the exception of the sharks what pairing would you have above McGuire and Blair?
With Blair in there... at least Storm, Tigers, souffs, Sharks and tits.

I hope our prop rotation with big boppers like Gavet and Garbutt, will make a difference, because while Macca is excellent at his job, he doesn't have the size to dominate, and needs a big hard running prop next to him... which Blair isn't.

How misleading is that article!? There's no way that Dave Tyrell will almost certainly not start for Souths. And even if he did, it said front row combination, which surely has to include the bench. George Burgess, Tom Burgess, Tim Grant. That's a beast front row.

Also interesting to see what team they have ranked at the bottom!

Swap Tilse for Vaughan, and Canberra is right up there.

Fucking Rick Stone, right? Terrible coach..

He would be a world beater if Sheens picked him!

NRL season 2015: Has Broncos coach Wayne Bennett discovered his new Gorden Tallis?

Interesting bloke, 27 years old and has had a stint in a number of clubs but highly recommended by Ben Walker apparently. From spending a couple weeks working in PNG it's obvious the people over there are crazy in love with the NRL so even if this bloke only has a couple games and goes well could be a good thing for some other up and coming talent to see.

He's not a big bloke, but he was very very good for Ipswich this year. I'm not sure he can replicate that at NRL level, as he was able to flourish under the Walker brothers system as a prop, which is not something that will happen under WB.

I hope he gets a chance, but it will be at lock or second row, and with Parker, Thaiday, Gillett, Glenn and Oates already vying for 3 spots, it will be hard to break through...

Remember Palmer "the best player never to have played NRL" Wa-POW?

He looks uncannily like Manu Vatuvai in that photo

You're partially correct, he did play a specific role but the role required skills that are going to be able to transfer even if the role is different. Two things that Rod's developed this year are better footwork and offload on the right hand side while carrying a side. People forget the Jets lost Lofipo and Neale and Rod was the sole 'big' man. He played 80 minutes every week with a huge increased fitness.

He made 200m (av 186) or close to every week and if he didn't the Jets didn't win. He also made an average of 26 tackles a week defending a ruck with little men.

Although I didn't see all his work quite a few people told me how good he was. I've been very keen to see how Griffin and Garbutt go and really hope they both get a chance or two. If we had a second rower playing huge minutes, tackling like Gillmeister and cleaning up like Harrison and Stagg used to, making second and third efforts we would be so much better off over the season. 1910, please keep the updates rolling in, you're like a second set of eyes !

Is anyone else seriously psyched for next season?

This is the most excited I've been for a long time. Bring that shit on!

Mate I was very very excited about next season before the Boyd injury. I was telling my Mrs the other day that I honestly thought we were a good chance of making the semi's at the very least.....that was the day Boyd injured himself.

Now Im slightly more nervous excited. I really hope that Kahu or who ever else gets the chance at 1 plays well. Its such a vital position and when Boyd was going to play there I wasnt worried at all. Now I am a little bit concerned about that.

Besides that I think we have brought in some great new talent Milford, Blair, Garbutt, Gavet and Boyd and Im excited to see how they go under Bennent. Time will tell but to answer your questions......HELL YEAH IM EXCITED!!!!!

Got the sharks second round, looks like the NRL want to cash in on the hype early.

So we will play two teams straight up which have big forward packs, it will be interesting to see how our boys aim up. Hope we smash Sharks.
