Broncos 2020 Squad

You lose Milford and swap fromy the issue we had with two running halves and no organiser over to two on the ball organisers and no game breaker.

Same situation.

Allow the cards to lay where they will and when u6t cones time to make that choice, make it then..not now.

Right now we need Croft and Milford to combine.

Dearden's time will come
I agree. Up to 6 cones is good for decision making.

There were quite a few fans unhappy about losing Croft bro, this is not speculation, it is a fact. A quick trip to their boards will show you that and I have quite a few contacts still in Melbourne who are Storm fans and many of them are unhappy.
I think Bellamy turfed Croft due to his defence and his refusal to play Qld cup when not picked for the storm. I expect Jacks to slip back in as he knows the system and is a solid option without being electric. Especially early on the season. Hughes might end up on the outside backs or off the bench.

Not Quite. Jacks and Croft are very different players. Jacks is far from the typical organising Halfback and when he was released from Melbourne initially it was because Melbourne still planned on using an actual Halfback and Croft was easily the better fit of the two.

Fast forward and that plan, for better or worse, is now out the window and they're obviously going to persist with Cam Smith being the Dummy Half and the Halfback, so no need for a proper organising Halfback anymore and therefore no need for Croft. It does make guys like Hughes and Jacks useful in that setup again, so it made sense for Jacks to return now.

Croft played 38 ISC games
20 tries, 34 goals, 4 field goals- 152 points.

Dosen't make sense, why would he give up Croft( a so called organizing half) to give Smith total control for just one more year.

There was talk that when he was dropped towards the end of last season he refused to travel to play qld cup. Bellamy wasn't impressed.

Because Smith has reached God-like status in the game. It would be like taking the reins off Lockyer in 2010 because some young whippersnapper was in the team now and wanting more control. The Storm are as much Smith's team as they are Bellamy's. The jury is still out but letting him walk could very well prove to be a monumental fuckup by the storm. In any case we didn't break the bank for him and he fills a position fans have been crying out for since at least 2017.

because it almost won them the whole thing last year and Bellamy will be long gone before it comes back to bite him on the ass.

Just seems to be a bad move if they moved him on just to make Smith happy for one more year.

Yep, that's what we're hoping.
I suspect - with zero proof - it was personal, or a personality clash of some kind. Maybe he's secretly Anthony Mundine.

Is it just one more year? Who knows, the guy will one day have skin ripped off to reveal he is a literal machine after all.

Also a possibility Smith has a coaching gig or other role within the club lined up once he's finished up playing so will still be around the squad anyway. So if they really don't get along it does make sense.

To be honest, Smith has been arguably the best organiser the game has ever seen. It allowed them to get away with having no halfbacks in the side, but still ultimately failed because Hughes isn't just not a halfback, he's not a particularly good ball player at all. Neither is Papenhuyzen, at least from what he's shown so far.

Shit listen. Dobbo reckons Boyd and Glenn will be co-captains. Margaux says co-captains don't work, yet we made the GF with co-captains. Corey not a big fan of Justin?

Dobbo says Boyd will be in the 13 in the centres. We already have Bird and Staggs ffs. If we have to drop one of them to appease this guy, I'm so done with Seibold.

I don't think so, as Margaux said in the clip when Bennett returned to the club one of the first changes he made revolved around the captaincy. He made Hodges the sole captain in 2015 and Parker replaced him in 2016.

I agree, to me it seems to be a bad move too, or at the very least a high risk one. Being rolled out of the finals last year certainly suggests it was a bad move too.

Everyone seems to be under the illusion that because Bellamy made the call it must be the right one, but he makes mistakes too just like everyone else, and unless he jags a Premiership now with one last roll of the dice on Smith in 2020, there is every chance this gamble will be proven as a mistake in the long run too. That said, if he does get a Premiership out of it before Smith and perhaps even Bellamy retires, it may well be worth the sacrifice in a lot of people's eyes.
