Broncos Announce Hodges & Parker as Co-Captains

Re: Bronco's Media Conference today at 10.15

word is hes fighting the change... might not be good for team relationships down the track.

Word is? He said it in the conference!

He just finished and said he fought the change but he agrees it's what's best for the team. He also said he has every intention of a new deal and won't go anywhere.

Re: Bronco's Media Conference today at 10.15

It is all slowly coming together, now if we can find a halfback and a coach, my confidence for this season will rise a little.

Re: Bronco's Media Conference today at 10.15

How about a hooker/captain (cough Smith)

Re: Bronco's Media Conference today at 10.15

Good decision and well handled by all parties.

I was all for the Thaiday as captain experiment if only because of where the squad was at post-Lockyer but it wasn't paying off and I don't think Sam had the potential to become anything great as a leader.

Sounds like the co-captaincy is a lock. Wonder if that will just mean Parker & Hodgo or if they'll utilise the rest of the leadership group? Either way, they have my complete support.

Re: Bronco's Media Conference today at 10.15

there's no room on the captain's wall at Broncos Leagues for one captain let alone two, so perhaps they should just give it to Parker and leave it at that. :P

Re: Bronco's Media Conference today at 10.15

now shop him around to other teams and we'll be getting somewhere.

Re: Bronco's Media Conference today at 10.15

Parker and Hodges co-captains really just means Parker 80% of the time.

Re: Bronco's Media Conference today at 10.15

Would it make more sense for Glenn and Parker to be Co-Captains considering Glenn will be our long term captain in the future?

Glenn is off contract next year. Reckon he'll leave, since Gillett just signed, the emergence of Oates and Thaiday never leaving.

Absolutely, use him as trade bait to find us a decent #7, ship him to the Cowboys for Rob Lui, would solve a few problems, Cows wouldn't be interested though but that is an example of what is possible if we had a pro active admin team

Rob Lui? Is this some sort of ruse good sir?

your kidding right you would swap Thaiday, an international, one club, marketing tool of a player for a average talent, middle aged halfback whose image, after his colourful history to say the least, is totally against the hard line stance that the club has worked and sacarificed significant talent for?

Even better would be if the NRL opened up to a real trade system.

Only an example, my good man, but Sammy's best days are over, perfect oppurtunity to ship him somewhere and possibly mend some of our deficiencies with as usual, the halfback position being our biggest concern

They will in time, as we all know, RL runs 30 yrs behind all other professional set ups, give it 5 years

Good to see that a wrong has been 'righted'. Parker should have been the captain when Lockyer retired. This can only be good for the club. Personally, I don't see how being the captain of a Rugby League team can affect your on-field performance. It's not like you've got to set fields. However, if it does improve Thaiday's performance I'm all for it.

Looking forward to some "I'll buy you a beer" type banter between Hodgo and the refs this season

It is only fair Parker was VC to Lockyer a long time and Hodges was such a leader of the team last season

sour note, Parker has a bit of a voodoo on himself, one of the worst winning strike rates when Captain ever hopefully he can turn that on its head
