I'll believe it when I see it...
But it wouldn't surprise me to see Bennett go to Market for an established outside back. Doesn't sound like any of our young fellas are bashing down the door and it is definitely where we are at out shallowest. Someone with a bit of first-grade under the belt would be ideal for our team balance if we assume Reed is the one to make way.
I don't doubt Bennett would jump at the chance to sign Semi, however he's not going to break the bank for a winger. I've always assumed Semi was largely driven by the $$$ signs, and when rumours started about his switch to the green and gold the media focussed in on that aspect pretty heavily. Then came the Eels cap saga and the click bate continued linking Semi to release, following the narrative of him chasing the $$$.
In all of this Semi never spoke about $$$ motivating him to switch to the green and gold. The only legitimate story I can recall along those lines was do with his fathers healthcare back at home. Thinking about it I think it's a bit unfair to label him a mercenary just yet, so there is still hope he could come to the Broncos within our price range.
He has spoken pretty passionately about becoming the greatest Fijian player of all time. It is hard to deny he won't face tougher competition for his spot, play in bigger games, or attain a greater profile playing for the Roos. Lets hope it's that which motivated him to play for Australia, and that same passion can bring him to the Broncos to chase premierships.
