Dont forget mate the 2018 major cap raise. Its jumping from 7 to 11 to 12. This is the biggest stumbling block for everyone.

Yea i like that. Dont think Thaiday will go to Cronulla lol.
I paired up Kahu and Glenn because i know they are close.
I know people dont want G.I but i believe its done. Even Lurker 2day says 700k is a stumbling block but fails to mention we would be moving 2 players.
Reed and a Backrower has been the talk for sometime. I know theres been mention of Glenn by others on here.
G.I will be bought in to mentor Jimmy and give him the confidence to unleash all the time (like an elder to him)

Haha could you imagine Inglis' advice: 'Now listen Jimmy, when you know the game is on the line and you see that opportunity to score and enter greatness, you take that field goal, no matter the score!'

we can even throw Waddell to the Sharks to sweeten the deal ... 2 player for 1 sounds like a fair trade to me :takdir:

Done! Shame Bruno Cullen isn't their CEO anymore, he would have jumped at it.

Lol G.I stay away from kicking..
No need when we got Milf and Hunt and then we would have Valley.

I'm not sure that cap rise has even been confirmed just speculated ...

besides even with the cap rise, i think 700k is too much to pay Inglis. especially if he keeps playing on one leg

I know hes not himself but 274 metres on 1 leg isnt too bad. A move to the centres and hes going to be deadly again.

As far as I know nothing cap related has been confirmed, although it's not too much of a stretch to imagine we are going to see a pretty significant jump. TBH 700kish range could be pretty reasonable $$$ for him if the cap goes up enough.

Especially since we don't have anyone really coming through in the outside backs that's ready just yet. Next cab off the rank can take Oates spot anyway (Oatesy into the pack). Plus, I really don't think it'd be the young blokes we really want to keep that'd be pushed out by Inglis, as some people are saying. As such, widening our premiership window now, by strengthening the position most of us agree is the weakest, seems like a no brainer since I don't see us paying for it majorly down the track.

On subject of Holmes, it is all wishful thinking, but I can't think of a player in the competition I would sign ahead of him at the moment. Young, QLDer, wing, kicks goals, plenty of toe...

But I can't see him signing his next contract on anything apart from fullback $$$. On one hand his confidence, thirst for the pressure situations (those couple of FG's where he came in off his wing looking for the ball I thought where outstanding) and the way he backs himself are amongst his best attributes. But this year there have been a couple of times I've watched/read interviews with him where I am starting to detect a little over-confidence, arrogance maybe. There was an article about him missing out origin selection and wanting to playing alongside Thurston where he seemed to intimate he was a shoe-in this year that spring to mind. On the other hand many great sportmen have equally great ego's so perhaps I am reading into it too much?

Anyway, long story short I get the impression he would think he is a starting FB and worth those kind of $$$ so I can't see him coming to play for us on the wing for the money we could pay him.

On another note, recently I've been thinking I wouldn't be surprised to see JT's next extension with the cowboys being team orientated on lower $$$, so they can keep their roster together and chase at least one more ring before he hangs up the boots. It got me thinking, can anyone see Parker doing the same thing? Bloody Sam's three year deal has really thrown a spanner in the works, for team balance I really feel like we need to lose a back rower, and it won't be him now. If Parker stays we either won't be able to pay him the $$$ he's worth, or miss out on retention/recruitment in a more urgent position.

Lurker is now reporting that Inglis is unlikely to join the Broncos, due to the NRL not willing to register a contract for him under $700,000, and us not being able to free up that much.

Hopefully it's true!

Lurker failed too mention that is normal for clubs to offload players to make these things happen. So expect an Announcement around Origin.

Oh no, not another Origin announcement.

Did you follow the part where its been admitted by others on here that he asked twice for releases last yr but was rejected. Its now being reported that souths are after a full back replacement.

I don't think anyone is doubting that Inglis would love to come to Brisbane, that seems blatantly obvious at this stage, the only question that remains is do we want to sign him at the cost of multiple good first graders and potentially hindering the natural progression to first grade of some of the promising centres we have coming through like Opacic, Seve & Isaako.

If the final equation was something along the lines of.. Losing Gillett, Glenn & Reed, and giving our young centres no chance of cracking first grade, in exchange for 2-3 seasons of 75% Inglis and the poor mans Gillett (Ethan Lowe), I'd say that's not worth it.

The current arc the squad is on is really good, we'd be far better advised to re-sign Gillett, re-sign our young talent (Nikorima, Anderson, Seve, Opacic, Boyce, Ese'ese, Fai are all off-contract), look on the open market for any young players that would be nice depth, find a new home for Reed and maybe do a straight swap of Glenn for Lowe, if the opportunity arises to do so.

Not losing gillo mate. It will be only 2 players. Reed and Glenn most likely. Maybe a bloke named Maranta.
We have a long list of backrowers ready to slot in the next yr or 2. TPJ, Arrow, Su'a etc.

If Inglis really wanted to be a Bronco he should have fucking done it last time instead of fucking everyone around.

Hard pass.

Ask Darren Lockyer and other Bronco Maroons about that.
