He's a bit of a peanut but I'd love to see what he could do under Bennett or Bellamy. Any other coach and it wouldn't be worth the risk, but he's beast like when playing well.

Inglis was definitely one, and Hoffman IIRC. They were more than a million over from memory though. They also didn't have a Watmough situation where a player on huge money was/is going to retire, if that's actually what happens.

They also weren't allowed to renegotiate deals like the Bulldogs were in 2002/03.

They lost half their roster and their best signing was Beau Champion. Even then, I believe that was an arrangement since Souths were desperate to sign Inglis and the NRL informed them they had to release a player of theirs. They worked out a deal with Melbourne and the rest they say is history.

That's why I didn't suspect them initially, they were bleeding a ton of players every season. Matt King, Israel Folau, Ben Cross, Michael Crocker, Dallas Johnson, Will Chambers, Scott Hill, David Kidwell, Clint Newton etc. and signing mostly bums.

But their worst breach occurred in 2010, when I actually thought their roster was at it's weakest by $700 000.

On the subject of Parramatta, people are dreaming if they think they'll be cutting Paulo, Semi or Norman. They're not going to knock out the pillars they've built this team on. Paulo is the only chance given he's got one foot out the door. The other two they'll be keen to hang onto.

They'll push for Watmough and fringe players before any of the above.
