Hunt has racked up over 3000 kicking metres this season already. He’s second only to Cronk overall in kick metres and he’s had over 100 kicks in play which makes him third overall in that stat too.

Certainly sounds like the kind of numbers that a guy who is steering his side around would rack up to me...

doesn't mean he is a game manager ... and just because he made those kicks doesn't mean they were actually good kicks ...

do the stats tell you how many of his kicks found the grass

do the stats tell you how many of his kicks found opposition players on the full

do the stats tell you how many of his kicks were to the corner, forcing the opposition to run the ball out from their tryline

do the stats tell you how many of his kicks were repeat sets

do the stats tell you how many of his kicks were try assists

and kicking is not the be all and end all of game management ... if it were we wouldn't need to go to the market for a game manager as Milford's kicking has been quite good for the last month or so

His side is leading the competition and he has more than likely played himself into the position at Origin level this year, he must be doing something right...

I didn't know he was the only half the Dragons had ... my mistake

no one is saying he is not a good player ... but he is NOT a game manager.

and at origin level he won't need to be because Cameron Smith will take on that role...

Widdop was managing the Dragons game last season and they ran ninth...

Hunt is doing the vast majority of the kicking in a side that’s running first and setting the benchmark so far this season but this doesn’t in any way qualify him as a game manager?

I have it on good authority he was chasing a $20 a day Macca's card. Seems the Titans have managed to swing it.

Has anyone been keeping an eye on Dargan? I haven’t, so I’m not going to pretend that I think he is ready for a crack in the nrl side, but I can’t see us doing worse with him in it and moving niko back to his best suited utility role. If Dargan doesn’t get a crack sometime very soon, I can see him walking and another side will give him a shot and it’ll turn into yet another lost opportunity. I struggle to think that our halves could go worse then they are currently (milf is going ok at the moment.)

The Dragons are also going well because Widdop and Hunt are both excellent defenders, at least as halves. They're winning through their defence. The opposition can't crack them easily and it ends in frustration and errors.

They have offered them a Salary Cap each as a package deal

It's the only way we're getting Nathan IMO.

Someone with a bit more knowledge on the players to explain to me why Dargan/Murphy haven't been given a shot. We brought Dargan in particular here for a reason. Is he stinking it up or something? Not match fit? Niko, god love him, isn't a 7 and Bird (even when not out of shape and down on confidence) isn't what we need to compliment Milford.....so who is there and why aren't they being named? Not ready for 1st grade doesn't cut it because Bird certainly isn't and Niko isn't a 1st grade 7. So what is it that's holding these young players back?

On Bird, Wayne had no issue dropping BHunt to Qcup last year to gain some perspective/confidence.....what's the issue now?

Wayne isn't losing the locker room but he's certainly losing the plot.

I reckon moving him to right centre was his last option. Other moves (to the halves etc) have been out of necessity (Niko injury), but right centre was Bird’s last chance to step up. Bench no longer makes sense if it’s match fitness he needs.

He needs to either play 80 in Q-Cup or doesn’t play at all so he can heal.

Wouldn't be overly surprised to see him get the vacated 2nd row spot while Glenn is injured. Gives him 4-6 weeks in a position he's being somewhat earmarked for. Fitness would be an issue but he doesn't have to play 80.

It'll certainly give his fitness a big kick up the arse. I don't want Bird in the back row or lock, but if it's just for a game or two, while we're severely depleted, might as well give him a shot.

FTR I'm happy with our 1-7 being Boyd/Oates/Opacic/Roberts/Isaako/Milford/Nikorima for the meantime.

Because niko was promised the halfback role regardless of how he performs.

Course he isn’t. Why would players be unhappy there? Many are getting overs to play like absolute busteds and there is apparently zero accountability for performance.

They are feted like superstars because they wear a Broncos jersey (not because of their achievements in that jersey) and hey free maccas cards for all, with apparently zero interest in how much of that crap they have eaten...
