What exactly is wrong with Kelly?
I'd never accept Lui, but Kelly, unless he's been up to some mischief since leaving the Titans, I'd sign tomorrow.
After a forgettable 2016, Kelly has been one of the form players over there.
I can't begrudge others wanting to throw him a bone, but it's worth noting that Bennett has already had something to do with Kelly and it turned out so 'well' nobody seems to remember it. I'm of course referring to a stint at the Knights in-between gigs with the Sharks and the Titans.
I'd like to see Kelly back in the NRL, just not at a club like ours. The next season is going to be very delicate with our halves situation and I'm not comfortable taking a punt on a player like Kelly.
Kelly is great in England because the game is so open and less wrestle and defence based than the NRL.
Maybe why we bought bird . To replace boyd , he is similar with a bit more power .A guy on Reddit is saying that Darb's or possibly Thaiday are going to announce there retirement this or next year?
Anyone heard this?
Maybe why we bought bird . To replace boyd , he is similar with a bit more power .
It's far more likely that the guy on reddit has no idea ... besides Boyd probably wouldn't have been given the captaincy if he was planning on retiring (since it was reported that Bennett was looking for a longer term skipper)
Why would Boyd retire or move position? 1. Boyd, 3. Bird is far better than 1. Bird, 3. Moga/ Oppa (who, I'm sorry, is bog average). Centres aren't as useless as all the detractors of the Bird signing are claiming: just imagine Canberra without BJ, Manly back in the day without Lyon, us without hodges for all of those years.
LOLThe Inside Mail: Home of all the hottest NRL news and gossip

THE Broncos are fighting to retain one of their most promising outside backs with Sydney clubs circling rookie centre Tom Opacic.
Inside Mail can reveal Opacic’s management has fielded calls from two Sydney-based NRL rivals following Brisbane’s signing of NSW Origin star Jack Bird.
Broncos coach Wayne Bennett is considering playing Bird next season at left centre, the very position in which Opacic impressed in his NRL debut last year.
Opacic missed the start of the season due to a shoulder operation but is back in business and putting pressure on Tautau Moga with his form for feeder-club Redcliffe.
The 22-year-old is contracted to the Broncos until the end of next season but at least he has options if he falls behind Bird in the backline pecking order.
ROOSTERS SALUTE WADDERS
THE Sydney Roosters have a lot of fans in Queensland, and this newspaper is among them.
A couple of weeks ago, long-time The Courier-Mail and The Sunday Mail sports journo Steve Waddingham retired after 29 years with the papers to focus all of his energies on a battle with ill-health.
“Wadders”, as he is known, is a mad and passionate Roosters fan, so chief league writer Peter Badel reached out to the club’s recruitment manager Jamie Mathiou to see if it was possible to get a jersey signed.
Mathiou passed on the request to Roosters staffers Adam Hartigan and Alex Phillips, who not only organised a signed jersey to be delivered to The Courier-Mail, but found out who Wadders’ favourite player was so that they could record a special video message to wish him good luck.
It was an effort above and beyond the call and much appreciated by everyone who knows and loves Wadders like we do.
Alex, Adam and Jamie are a credit to their club and the greatest game of all. It was a wonderful gesture

MOSES’ BRONCOS POSSE
LEADING player agent Isaac Moses has been at the centre of the Wests Tigers saga and now he is building his power base at the Broncos.
Moses, who manages Maroons skipper Cameron Smith, recently secured Broncos prop Josh McGuire and now he has Brisbane winger Corey Oates on his radar.
Oates is contracted to a rival management stable but don’t be surprised to see him end up with Moses, who last year snapped up Broncos warhorse Corey Parker.
Moses already has a posse of top-line Broncos on his books including McGuire, Matt Gillett, Andrew McCullough, Kodi Nikorima and prop Adam Blair.
JAYDEN’S TALENTS FOR SALE
KODI Nikorima is kicking goals with the Broncos but his younger brother, Jayden, is on shaky ground at the Roosters.
The glamour Bondi club poached Nikorima last year and he looked destined for big things after playing seven games at age 19 last season.
But the Roosters are now shopping him to NRL rivals.
The pint-sized utility is on $400,000 in the final year of his three-year deal next season and that salary is too high for a Roosters club that sees a long-term future in the Mitchell Pearce-Luke Keary halves alliance.
Jayden was rated a more promising talent than Kodi in the under-20s but there was room for only one Nikorima at Red Hill and the Broncos opted for the older version.

MARATHON MAN
WE ALWAYS suspected Billy Moore had a huge heart.
The man famous for the “Queenslander” chant has taken to distance running after competing in the New York marathon a few years ago.
Still fit as ever at age 45, Moore has a dream to run the London marathon and runs with a simple inspiration.
When the going gets tough, Moore jokes he can be heard screaming “Queenslander” as he approaches the 30km mark.
IF THE JERSEY FITS ...
BRONCOS coach Wayne Bennett is not making a late change when he pushes Sam Thaiday to the bench and starts Alex Glenn in the back row.
Thaiday has come off the bench in Brisbane’s past two matches while wearing the No. 11 jersey.
But Bennett is not playing silly buggers with his team selections on a Tuesday. There is much simpler answer to the situation.
“I still wear the No. 11 jersey because it’s the only XXXL jersey in the kit,” Thaiday said.

BLAIR THE GOODS AT ANY AGE
BRONCOS prop Adam Blair left The Inside Mail confused this week.
Blair was one of few Broncos players to happily agree to a post-game interview after Brisbane’s thrilling win against the Titans on Good Friday.
During the interview, Blair (right) was asked how his body was feeling at “31 or 32”.
“Are you serious?” Blair said with a smile.
We replied: “You’re 31 aren’t you?”
“Nah, 30,” Blair said. A check with four different sources has provided two different dates of birth for Blair — March 20 and March 23, 1986.
Either would make the Kiwi Test representative 31.
We are stumped. Either Blair was bluffing us about his age or the record holders have got it completely wrong.
VETE OFF TITANS’ RADAR
THE Gold Coast Titans are yet to recruit a player for 2018 and one that was close to a done deal has now collapsed.
The Titans had all but signed Warriors prop Albert Vete — until he was dropped from the NRL.
Vete started the first three matches of the season in the front row and hasn’t been sighted in the NRL since.
Apart from Ryan James and Jarrod Wallace, the Titans are defensively weak in the middle and the last thing they need is another player who can’t hold their own in defence.
Vete is still an option, but the Titans have gone cold on him unless he can show some improvement this season.
LOCKE EXIT
KEVIN Locke’s run with the Sunshine Coast Falcons did not last long.
Locke has quit the Intrust Super Cup club to return to the New Zealand and be closer to his four-year-old son.
The former Kiwi international made just one appearance for the Falcons in Round 2. It looks extremely unlikely now that Locke will play in the NRL again after making 88 appearances for the Warriors.
GUERRA RUMOURS DENIED
RUMOURS surfaced on the weekend that Roosters forward Aidan Guerra had attracted interest from the Titans and Cowboys for next year.
However, both clubs have denied that they are chasing the off-contract Maroons stalwart.
BENJI NOT FILLING SPOTLIGHT
BENJI Marshall and his wife Zoe have been pretty successful in launching their new Nova radio show, Meet the Marshalls.
But for once, it’s not the Broncos playmaker who is getting all the attention.
Zoe has done so well on the Sunday morning show that she has been nominated in Radio Today’s Rising Stars competition.
The top five nominees who get the most votes will go on to take part in a podcast called Game Changers.
