Semi-unpopular opinion -

We don't need Glenn, re-signing him would be a waste of cap room and top 25 spot. Bring on the era of Oates / Su'A.

Was surprised oates wasn't on the bench and mead on the wing last night. Thought it would have been a great time to give him a go in the backrow.

It seems pretty clear that Glenn and Kahu are a package deal.

FWIW, I feel exactly the same. Glenn is a decent player but certainly not critical or irreplaceable on less money. And if his retention means we lose one of our current best-17 forwards, or even Arrow, etc, it's not worth it.

So how valuable is Kahu? It's a bit irrelevant as it looks like they're already signed, but just asking the question.

Well let's say we score four tries a game on average, he kicks at 80%, so he is worth 5-6 points or an extra converted try each game. That is important as has been shown through the Parker years.

The problem is, what position is his best? As for Glenn, keeping experience around a club is important but not the way he is playing. He is easily replaceable by a younger, cheaper forward with more Upside at present.

Does he really kick at 80% though?.. From memory he was closer to 70% last season and he's probably in the low to mid 70's this year as well after last night..

Don't think he's that great honestly.

79.25% in 2016
84.21% in 2017

68.75% in 2015 as well, shows he has only been steadily improving and that has also been with an increase of goal attempts as he has gone on. People complained about Parker, Milford would be next in line with no Kahu.

84%? I could've sworn they showed him at 80% last night before his first kick (Went 2/4 afterwards)

Maybe that was career %

Yes, I saw that. Career is 76.92%

It was 84% going into last nights game(16/19) so last night's few misses would have lowered that a little. That is probably the confusion there.

He just need to kick the ball harder. He didn't miss they were just too short. Even the ones he gets always land in front of the touchies.

GREG BIRD SAYS IT IS THE BEST NEWS HE HAS RECEIVED SINCE HAVING HIS SENTENCE REDUCED FOR PISSING ON A COP CAR.

The Brisbane Broncos are in damage control tonight after the club inadvertently offered a multimillion dollar contract to NRL bad boy Greg Bird instead of up-and-coming superstar Jack Bird.
The administration error was made by the Broncos contract team and it appears it may be a mistake the club can’t back away from.
“We jotted the wrong first name down on the contract and our legal staff sent the offer to Greg Bird in France by mistake – obviously Greg accepted the terms immediately and is already on his way to Brisbane,” Broncos CEO Joe Eillis said.
“This is a nightmare to be honest with you, not only have we missed out on the services of Jack Bird, but we have brought shame to our city by willingly inviting Greg Bird to live here – this is truly a dark day for the Brisbane.”

Has anyone seen this one doing the rounds? A Tits mate sent it on - couldn't help but lol. That would be a dark day indeed.

A guy on Reddit is saying that Darb's or possibly Thaiday are going to announce there retirement this or next year?

Anyone heard this?

Can see Thaiday pulling the pin on origin after this year, and playing out next year.

Don't see why Darbs would, he's only 30 in july.

No chance Darius will, he's in the top 3 Fullback's in the game and is about to get the best contract of his career. Thaiday on the other hand probably only has 1 year left at most, and I wouldn't be surprised if he retires this year for A) Media opportunities and B) Cap space to help us retain Boyd, Milford, Roberts (Similar to Hodgo retiring a year early so we can keep everyone)

There were whispers in the off season Thaiday's last SOO series would be in 2017 and that 2018 would be his last NRL season so wouldn't be surprised.

I thought Accept also mentioned something about a surprise retirement in one of his Jack Bird posts.
