Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

Just don't think he is a halfback. He is best playing hooker off the bench. Just my opinion.

Some people said that about Ben Hunt when he finally got his chance at halfback. Kodi had mostly played fullback before forcing his way onto the bench for the first grade side, he's got the nous to play at half.

This is the interesting thing though, some posters are saying he hasn't shown enough in three weeks to be anointed the long-term halfback (which I agree that it is too early to say) but then others are saying despite him only being there for three weeks, he is DEFINITELY not the guy. Seems like double standards.

The reality is, he hasn't put together a full 80 minute performance but he has shown marked improvement each week. I would suggest this is enough to say he could turn out to be something but stopping short of actually anointing him, a fair comment in all honesty I would suggest.

Give him as long as you want he isn't going to be the half we need . Unless milf leaves niko will eventually be replaced as our 7 , or unless milf turns into the 7 we need (which i have doubts about aswell).

Interesting possibility - the only thing we know for sure about the #7 is that it won't be Hunt. There is a chance, all probability aside, that Milford is our #7 next year, either temporarily or for the long term. Does Bennett therefore try to ease the controlling side of thing in to Milford's responsibilities this year? Even when Hunt is back?

For the record, considering most teams bomb when they lose their controlling half, I think we've done pretty well to have not dropped a game in Hunt's absence. Could we have gone better? Probably, but with the closeness of some of the games the team has been forced to dig deep for wins and has succeeded every time. And Nikorima has been a part of that. I think he has definitely earned a chance to audition to be our long term halves partner for Milford, whether it's with the #6 or #7 on his jersey is yet to be seen. When Hunt returns, I hope Nikorima is planted in Qld cup to work on his game so that he's ready to prove himself in the pre-season next year.

Do you like Niko off the bench? Killed it in '15.

I'm still curious about the difference between 6 and 7 in the way this team is coached and plays.

What is the difference? Both half and 5/8 play different sides. What am I missing?

Can someone pls explain why there is all this discussion about Milford wearing or not wearing the no. 7 on his back?

It depends on who is available really. 7 traditionally is the primary kicker. Six and seven have similar roles, Broncos are at their best when Hunt and Milf combine, not stick to opposite sides of the field and have no communication.

In terms of our 6 and 7 playing the same side, I have been hanging out for those same side formations for soooo long. In any case, given the way this side plays, I see the difference between half and 5/8 as .... well, actually, very little except sure, when Hunt plays he does more kicking. Big deal. To me it doesn't make either Hunt or Milford a "specialist" 7 or 6. They are both simply halves and it doesn't matter who plays 6 or 7 again, given how this team is coached.

More or less. You would have to watch games from 2015 to see the distinction. In that case, the six was almost a second play making fullback who cuts in and out of play, while the seven directs the attack. For some reason, I prefer Milf in six, but there is very little difference...except maybe with a look towards rep considerations.

It's not really a matter of no. But type of half. We need a half that can steer a team around and has a great kicking game. This way we cover all bases , even if milf eventually adds these aspects to his game . Milf is a natural ball runner, add a natural kicker and i think we will be very strong.

Not much difference these days, it's just that traditionally you usually had halfbacks be the more controlling player, patient player, chief kicker, someone who straightened the attack, and got the ball to the forwards to get them going to plan ahead etc. I guess it's still expected your 7 will be the chief player in at least some of those things.

Damn I miss the way Walters coached this side

Wonder who will be doing the kicking at the Dragons next year
