Any love for Braden Trindall in the halves. Caboolture junior, been in the Qld 18s and 20s teams, off contract with sharks this year, stuck behind Johnson Townsend and Molyan, played half in premiership winning newtown NSW cup team and looked good every Nrl call up he has had. He's ready for a permanent starting spot if a club wants him, and only 21.

Watched this game yesterday and the thought crossed my mind, did we ever show any interest in this kid, or have the opportunity to sign him at any stage? Look, I know you can't sign them all, but this kid was in our own backyard virtually (Caboolture) yet the Sharks somehow have the foresight to sign him and judging by the 3 games he has played, looks very promising as a cunning little half.

In my eyes, he has shown more promise in those 3 games than I have witnessed in the games Corey Paix has played. Paix has been hyped up for the past few years but I have yet to see anything of meaning from his performances so far to be honest. Maybe he would be worth a shot at 5/8 instead of his unnatural position of hooker to see how he goes.

The problem is any kid who IS actually good wants their shot.
Signing a contract to be second in line behind another 20 yr old has no immediate future. If Iwas him I'd take my chances to learn behind 29 yr old Chad and 29 yr old SJ.

Or behind croft and Milford.....

I watched him a play a few games at Newtown and loved him. I was stoked to see him get a run for the Sharks expecting him to maybe just get the '25-30 minutes off the Bench' role, but as fate would have it he's been monumental in carrying that Sharks pack this year and could probably claim to be close to their best player this season. If they didn't have him I actually think they'd probably be sitting outside the Top 8 right now.

....well I understand that he has reneged on a deal next year with the Warriors so he can stay at the Sharks....so he may be a long term target perhaps but right now his future is with Cronulla...

well, I've maybe we decide to put 50% of his salary in we can shop Croft to ESL......that opens spot up if Trindells your man..

However, id like to know first what the clubs plans are for Sully..?.....he needs the rest of the season to get a run of games and show what he can offer.

Im not prepared to do anything that alienates Dearden whatsoever....we have to be smart about this....we aren't offering premierships to these young guns anymore...

Instead we need to show a clearly developed and logical map to develop Tom into a NRL standard half, then representative level...

I've mentioned him before, but I think Lachlan Burr would be a good pick up. Wants to move back to Australia and had another strong game yesterday.
