I would just be happy to see a player like Widdop at fullback and Hunt at 7 with Wallace at 6. I think Wallace if fine, just not as flashy as Hunt.

Reality is, it doesn't matter if we want him or not, the Bulldogs have to agree to releasing him, that's the tough part. We may have to pay the Bulldogs a huge transfer fee for them to accept that and I've have no problem. Barba is one player worth big money.

Nope, we paid a transfer fee for Hannant to get released from the Dogs too.
Transfer is just a fee between clubs, only the players actual salary counts to the cap.

Well as previously noted, Widdop's father is a huge Broncos fan and he wants him to join us.

Widdop was outstanding today, I'd love for him to play fullback but I reckon he'd be great in the 6 too if that's what he really wanted.

Article in the Courier Mail today.

"I'd love him to try his wares at the Broncos," Widdop senior said."I think Gareth would be superb for the Broncos. Everyone bangs on about him being good at fullback but I've coached him since he was six and he was always a halfback.
"At the moment, he's not playing the traditional halfback's role at Melbourne so people haven't seen what he can really offer.
"Would I be surprised if he left? Well that's rugby league these days and, because of the salary cap, people do have to move on. It's about testing yourself as well.
"The thing about Melbourne is you have the big three (Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cronk) and they get all the accolades, but if he went to the Broncos, Gareth could be the main man.
"If I had my way, Gareth would definitely go to the Broncos. I'm a Broncos supporter and Gareth has been a Broncos supporter, our whole family is ... but I'll support whatever decision he makes."
Asked if Widdop, 24, is genuinely considering the Broncos, Gary said: "Yes. They are one of a few clubs who are fishing around.
"There are other clubs waiting to see what happens before they make a formal offer.
"The Broncos are in the mix, as are a couple of other clubs . . . there aren't too many quality halves on the market."

Well Andrew Gee keeps coming out saying we haven't approached Widdop. I hope we aren't sitting on our hands while other clubs sign players. I think Widdop is exactly the type of player Hook would love to have in the side. The Barba issue is probably a pipe dream. If he did come onto the market he would be a must get though.
