As much as I'd like to see Izzy return I can't see it happening at all. He is settled with the Tahs and going well, His next contract will be bigger and likely include Wallabies bonus money.

If he wants out of Sydney to return to QLD then the Reds will be chasing a new star to fill the shoes of Digby and will be able to offer just as much.

Digby Ione just landed a $1.2m per year deal, there is **** all chance of Folau coming back to league with that type of money in yawnion.

It's widely known that these guys are the main breadwinner for 4 or 5 families so the bottom line is $$$$$$.

Yup, that ship sailed the second he signed with AFL clearly only for the $$$

Keep in mind that's over in France, Izzy could command the same over there but I'm not sure he would travel overseas for that long considering family.

yep, Folau is now a footballing 'man-whore' - prostituting himself wherever and to whomever is the highest bidder ...

Even with the jacked up salary cap he'd do too much collatoral damage to an NRL roster if signed to anything more than a one year deal ...

We are not signing young blokes because we have a good signing coming up, possibly two, just wait for it fellas! When they announce the signing of all our young players, that's when you know we couldn't get anyone.

Who are the 2 players you are speaking of? :)

I think sticking to Union now will help shed that image.

Maybe but Digby is in the same position apparently, supporting at least 4 mortgages. It really is about the money and if that is there situation you can hardly blame them.

Or he's just like everyone else with a job who is willing to go to the company who is prepared to pay most to employ them

yeah .... like the Storm's 'big three' or Darren Lockyer before them (just to name but a few) .... no way any of those guys could've earnt more switching clubs / codes ....

While it's becoming rare, loyalty certainly exists with employees / employers. Rugby League is no different.

Speaking of rugby players.. how did Feauai-Sautia slip through the Broncos? A state high kid too.

Yeah, look, for sure some people, whether it be in sport or other more "normal" jobs still have loyalty, but the vast majority don't and are willing to put #1 first and go to the highest bidder, and I think it's harsh to categorize footballers as being different, given it's a professional job these days and they are just trying to earn a living like everyone else. Especially someone like Folau, who was being offered double what he was on to, essentially, change professions with another employer. I'm not sure what you blokes do, but if someone was offering to double my salary next year, I'd sign up tomorrow.

That's a good question you raise Dave.

How many players came to our club with a Rugby background? Perhaps we should start poaching and look outside of our sport? And I don't mean by bringing in some Union juniors, we're already doing that with the likes of Timu & of course in the past with Gagai, but bringing in some talented Reds juniors.

We can only bring in players that want to sign with us. That kid could have been really keen on union and was already signed with the reds. We should certainly be opening our minds when it comes to recruitment though.

I'm sure the Roar players would be keen
