Kids are usually only signed till the end of year 12 with the clubs paying them for their schooling.
These kids don't dream to play for the Reds or the Wallabies. They dream of playing for the Maroons or the All Blacks. So I'm sure if the Broncos came knocking they would be in a good chance

I wonder if there was an effort to coax him? More than likely but still it'd be handy to sign a player of his ability (not necessarily him, can't base interest on one try alone, especially against a team like the Lions) give our shortage in the backs. I hope Gee is at least taking it into consideration because our stocks are bare.

I get the feeling the Broncos don't put much effort into chasing players. Seems like they just expect players to sign with the Broncos.

They chased Jordan Kahu. The West Tigers payed him through school but the Broncos came knocking when he was in his final year at Keebra Park

Yeah, look, for sure some people, whether it be in sport or other more "normal" jobs still have loyalty, but the vast majority don't and are willing to put #1 first and go to the highest bidder, and I think it's harsh to categorize footballers as being different, given it's a professional job these days and they are just trying to earn a living like everyone else. Especially someone like Folau, who was being offered double what he was on to, essentially, change professions with another employer. I'm not sure what you blokes do, but if someone was offering to double my salary next year, I'd sign up tomorrow.

I agree. I was only commenting on that one post, not the whole conversation.

I get the impression we signed him to get to his brother. Just like with Isaak Ah Mau.

WESTS Tigers are refusing to back down in a tug-of-war with the Broncos for young fullback Jordan Kahu who yesterday led Keebra Park to the Gold Coast School's first Arrive Alive Cup title.
Kahu wants to join the Broncos so he can stay close to his father Dave on the Gold Coast but Wests Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell claimed the Sydney club had an option on his services and expected him to honour the deal and head to them along with prop Isaac Lui and secondrower Ben Murdoch.
"We're not happy. We've looked after him for two years," said McDonnell.

"We brought him down to our camp and all of a sudden another club wants to come in and take him.
"We have an option on him for next year. We've taken it up and expect him to come down."

Yeah I'm aware of that story, I just think our pursuit started in 2008 and not 09.

I'm pretty sure they've done just that. I remember reading something about the Broncos forming a relationship with Kee-bro, can't remember when though.

Yeah, but I get the feeling the Broncos may have brought him in the first place with the intention to butter up the family and try and get Jordan.

I could be completely off-base but it's a theory.

Would love to find out about that Fozz. We've got a few of their graduates in Corey Norman, Jordan Kahu & Joseph Forrester on the books. Ben Te'o & Greg Eastwood both came from there as well.

I still think it's Tigers territory. I know we reclaimed Ipswich off the Roosters but Keebra would be a big get. It makes you wonder why the Titans didn't muscle in on at that school during their inception.

Tallis wrote an article about a month ago we need a big frontrower. After friday night it was never more evident as we struggled to bend or break the line.
Is there any on the market? Kasiano would be a good start. We should also be looking for outside back. Brenko Lee or his brother Edrick Lee from raiders would be a good start.

Pretty sure Kasiano has re-signed or he is keen to, I get mixed up with him and pritchard

Rubbish, Isaak was oustanding in the Qld Cup when he got his Broncos' contract. Had nothing to do with his brother. Kevvie rang the Broncos and told them he was worth a go.

Roosters only had an affliation with Ipswich juniors.

Broncos still get Keebra Park kids, they don't have to go to the Tigers. Arrow and Norman at the moment. The Broncos do better out of Wavell.

Yeah they compete in the South East Comp for the Renouf Shield Walters and Hancock Cups. Also Langer and Gee Shields for 18's.
