Good. Divide his value up on Hunt and McGuire. If Merge want him, let them have him. If he goes on to perform well for them than it is just further proof that he never cared for our jersey and we don't want players like him in our squad anyway.

Then I hope that the Sharks are prepared to wait 18 months to get a top level half. And also hope he doesn't use the Rd 13 rule.

Besides Carney was only on 650k at the Sharks... He will get an offer reasonably close to that with us.

More likely they want to avoid repeating the same mistakes they made with Wallace. And that is keep signing him to upgraded deals for a few months of good form.

My guess is they want to see him close out the season before making him an offer.

Beside hook would have very little to do with offers. That was Gee's (now Nolans) job. Hooks role would be telling the recruitment and retention guys who he wants and they make it happen (or **** it up in Gee's case).

As much as it would suck to lose Hunt, with the amount of quality kids we have coming through, it wouldn't be an absolute disaster of epic proportions, it would probably just mean instead of being contenders in 2015/2016, we won't be contenders until 2017/2018.
