Its simple we are 3 backrowers to many. Moved the best lock to frf because of it.

1 Barba
2 Vidot
3 Reed
4 Hodges
5 Copley
6 Taylor
7 Hunt
8 McGuire
9 MC
10 Hannanat
11 Gillett
12 Thaiday
13 Parker

14 Wallace
15 Oates
16 Glenn
17 Molo

18 Granville

McGuire and Hannant are fine to start and will keep moving forward against any pack. Just need Molo to develop into this raging monster of the bench. Release Lowrie, Stagg, Hoffman and Kennedy, save 700k a year.

I'm not really a fan of that bench ... IMO bench props are as important as starting props. the bench prop needs to keep the momentum going once the starting props come off for a breather.

thats why i like Hannant on the bench. and Parker really hasn't played that much differently since he started playing prop again this year.

IMO, ATM. our best starting pack and bench is:

8. McGuire
9. Macca
10. Parker
11. Glenn
12. Thaiday
13. Gillett

14 Hannant
15. Oates
16. Wallace
17. another up and coming prop to get some experience.

So does anyone think we will be doing anything before the June 30 deadline?

Unless we can get a big hard running prop before June 30. I don't think we should sign anyone.

Brisbane Broncos eye Dragons star Trent Merrin as Corey Parker replacement

THE Broncos are chasing NSW Origin forward Trent Merrin as part of their plan to cover the eventual retirement of co-captain Corey Parker.

Merrin, 25, was first identified as a possible recruit by former Brisbane operations chief Andrew Gee, who resigned last month.
The interest remains genuine, with Broncos officials recently performing due diligence on the highly-rated Merrin to learn if he would fit the club’s culture.
The 104kg prop or back-rower is one of the code’s most promising young forwards, averaging 142 metres and 37 tackles per game this season.

A mobile forward with brilliant footwork and a good offload, Merrin made his Origin debut as a 21-year-old in 2011.
He is now a key member of the Blues and will play his 10th match in Origin III on Wednesday week at Suncorp Stadium.
In time, the Broncos are keen for Merrin to settle in Queensland.
The Wollongong junior is off-contract at the end of next season, meaning Brisbane cannot table a formal offer until November 1 in their plan to sign him for the 2016 season.
However, rival clubs are hoping he will not see out his current deal.

Merrin is one of the lowest-paid Origin players this year, rumoured to be earning less than $250,000 a season, and was unhappy to be overlooked for the Dragons’ leadership group.
The Broncos are no certainties to secure Merrin given they are one of up to seven clubs who have the forward on their hit-list.
“There is plenty of interest in Trent,’’ his manager Wayne Beavis said yesterday. “He’s an Origin player, he’s young, he’s in the prime of his career.
“I’d say he’s on a few clubs’ hit list but Trent is secure for the short-term so we can’t take offers yet.’’

Merrin’s attraction for the Broncos is his versatility. He has the ability to play prop, back-row or lock, which would give them flexibility with their interchange rotation.
At 32, Parker recently signed until the end of 2016, but the Broncos need an ironman successor and Merrin fits the bill.
Former Broncos and Queensland hooker Kerrod Walters said Merrin would be a handy addition to Brisbane's ranks.
“Merrin’s an Origin player and you don’t play Origin if you don’t have ability,’’ he said.
“He’s one of those guys with good footwork who is able to get through the line and offload.
“If you have quality players available and they are keen to come, you have to go after them.
“He’s got a bit of size about him too. He’s just played in a winning Origin series so he’d be a good asset for the Broncos.’’

Interesting. Bloke is a damn good footballer, but he is also a grub. And call me shallow, but I do hate having NSWkers in my Broncos team...

Double post.

I agree but we won't come anywhere near a premiership again with that attitude.

Don't even wait until Parker's retirement, sign him now.

He's a fantastic player. The best at the Dragons, but I guess that doesn't sound particularly impressive, lol.

I really don't like him though, and he's a NSWanker.

he is under contract for next year anyway ... unless the Dragons agree to release him (not bloody likely) we can't make an offer for him until november 1, and that would be for the 2016 season anyway.

having said that i certainly wouldn't be against signing him, while i would love for the club to remain having a majority of Queenslanders in the side, in this day and age we can't afford to turn down talented players just because they have the misfortune of being from that shit hole to the south of us

I thought the talk of Merrin coming here was just nonsense but it looks like it's true.

He would be a great replacement for Parker as he plays a similar role and is a superb player at NRL level. Don't ever bad talk him because he is a Blue this is professional sport and you need the best to succeed. Remember one of the greatest NSW players ever was the piece of the puzzle and was the catalyst for our first premiership and is one of our all time greats.

On that point, if it means losing McGuire I am completely against it (I'm completely against it regardless mind you).

Long odds of happening but would be a great signing IF he genuinely wanted to stay up here for a while which I doubt.

I fear the Broncos will put all their eggs in the Merrin basket and forget about the players we have off contract.

He'd be a great signing, putting all my NSW hate aside, would happily have him at the club, second best off-loading Lock in the game after Corey.

I don't see any quotes from anyone in that article about him coming to Brisbane?

His Manager said: I’d say he’s on a few clubs’ hit list but Trent is secure for the short-term so we can’t take offers yet.’’

Then a quote from Kerrod Walters, who has nothing to do with the Broncos, saying he'd be a good addition to the team.

It's all hyperbole from the "reporter".
