Isn't B.Smith off contract for 2022? Why does any other club need to offer compensation? Or is he off contract 2023?

They would like to release him now, as in he will not be in a Storm jersey 2021.
But if the other club offer up a matching player, otherwise cover the difference if player of lesser caliber.

Yep, there will be others in his "company" that have accreditation, it'll be transferred over to them and Moses will just keep collecting.

It's not next year it's the year after.

Melbourne Storm has given Brandon Smith approval to explore opportunities with other NRL clubs from the 2022 season.

Contracted to the end of 2022, Smith has committed to Storm for 2021 but has requested an early release from the club as he looks at opportunities where he can play exclusively as hooker.

when they talked about us, they said that while we won't release any of our young stars to the Storm, we'd need to come up with an adequate offer. they say Corey Oates fits the bill for the level of player the Storm will be after.

He's a number 2 hooker at 12 other NRL clubs IMO. I say that with no satisfaction at all. Heart and energy only get you so far.

Turpin is a lower tier hooker playing in unfortunately a low end team.

I'd take Hodgson, Mahoney, Brailey, Cook, Koroisau, Friend, C Smith, B Smith, Grant, Hunt, Starling and McInnes over Turpin.

I'd take someones arm off at the socket if they offered B Smith for Turpin.

This is just so wrong. Turpin walks into the starting 9 unchallenged at NQ, Titans, Warriors, Knights, Dogs, Eagles, Tigers and Sharks. He would also challenge at Drags and Eels.

If you watch Turpin play and think he only has heart and energy...says more about you than Turpin.

This is just so wrong. Turpin walks into the starting 9 unchallenged at NQ, Titans, Warriors, Knights, Dogs, Eagles, Tigers and Sharks. He would also challenge at Drags and Eels.

If you watch Turpin play and think he only has heart and energy...says more about you than Turpin.

So because you...I mean he is better than clubs that have no settled hooker, he is a top 8 hooker? Also, aside from your bias, he doesn't even get close to McInness or even Hunt at the Drags and he isn't even close to unseating Mahoney (and I don't even rate Mahoney).

He is better than the guy at 9 for the other clubs you mentioned because they don't yet have established hookers really. At times this year, Turpin was outplayed by an overweight, over the hill Luke, that says it all.

Plus, he is injury prone.

I don't know what to say about Turps tbh. All I remember is that the guy won us quite a few games in 2019 purely with heart and energy.
