I think we should ruffle the feathers in Canberra and try and land one of either starling or Hodgson... both are quality and that in itself is a signing that can get a side like ours top 8

Yeah very true but the guy is struggling to stay on the field and hasn’t influenced a game enough for us to stick with him

He is better than the guy at 9 for the other clubs you mentioned because they don't yet have established hookers really. At times this year, Turpin was outplayed by an overweight, over the hill Luke, that says it all.

Plus, he is injury prone.

Yeah he is pretty easily a top 8 hooker. Mahoney is extremely overrated, I wouldn't even consider swapping him for Turpin.

CSmith, Grant, Cook, Api and Hodgson are comfortably top 5 hookers in the comp. You then have the likes of McInnes, Mahoney, BSmith and Turpin.

He isnt as good as Robson and arguably Cotter at the Cowboys. Mahoney is better at the Eels, and Mcinnes from the Dragons. Both the Brayleys look to have more to their games, but i think we need to see more of them to pass judgement. Quite honestly, to say he is a better hooker than Brandon Smith is laughable. If he was as good as you reckon, the Storm would have kept him and sacrificed Grant or Cheese to keep him there.

The bloke just isnt that great. I've got a lot of time for Jake, know him pretty well and he is a top fella, he just isnt a top class hooker, he is a serviceable hooker who plays above his weight. His attitude and effort are tremendous, but his game hasnt really changed or developed his game from the bloke i watched at Redcliffe. He does exactly the same things. In the last couple of years, his attitude and energy is exactly what we needed.

Its all well and good you saying we have no centers, fullback and edge back row options ( which are valid points ), but when a talent like Smith is available you have to make an effort to get them.

Yeah just the same as when a talent like Bird becomes available. Sorry, that's now how it works in the world with a salary cap. Even if Turpin is just a serviceable hooker, he isn't a part of the massive problems at Brisbane. #1 priority should be a fullback, then look for edge back rowers and centres.

I look forward to Turpin getting some games together without injuries or needing to play 7, will show up majority on this forum who rely on the media to tell them who a good player is.
 
Turpin has the ceiling to be a cult hero at best.
Nothing wrong with that but you don’t turn down Cameron Smith or his son if they are available.

I dont see Bird comment or even your cap comment as being relevant. What does that have to do with us chasing Brandon Smith? If we can fit a player in our roster who will improve us, you have to go for it. Bird proved at Cronulla he is a fantastic footballer. Just because he was injury prone here doesnt mean he wasnt a good player who would have offered us a lot if he stayed fit. It didnt work out at Brisbane and we have all moved on. Every signing comes with a risk of injury anyway, And lets face it Turpin has played 21 games in 2 years. He's hardly a shining example of a player who stays fit.

I also dont need you or the media to tell me who is a good player or not. Anyone with even a modicum of intelligence can clearly see Brandon Smith is a better footballer, let alone hooker than Turps is. Like i said before, Melbourne punted him because they had B.Smith and Grant. He wasnt good enough to see them off. Thats not taking away from anything Turpin has done at the Broncos either, he did what we needed him to do at the time, and if we dont get Smith i'm sure he will do a decent job in the future. I've watched the bloke enough to have enough of a grasp of his capability.

And again, there arent any fullbacks, centers or edge back rowers out there who have been made available who in the class of Brandon Smith. If there were then we should also be looking at them.

Lol, what bullshit. Just because your opinion differs doesn't mean others are swayed by the media.

It's not hard to see that the majority of this forum watch all Broncos games and are capable of making their opinions based on what they see. This isn't casualnrlfans.com
 
I actually think Kev could be a huge drawcard in luring in B Smith to Broncos. I think they have very compatible personalities and Kev may be able to charm him. Hopefully we are going after B Smith, he'll be in the top 3 hooker in the comp in a few years when C Smith and J Friend are gone. He'll be the Kiwi 9 for a while I think.

There are many clubs looking for what B Smith can offer at 9.

The problem is that I saw Storm want a swap. They want the club B Smith goes to, to give them someone equally as good.. Who do we have to give to Bellamy?
