So, rubbish everyone else’s opinion while thinking yours is number one, whilst insulting them? ****, this guy needs his own little forum to populate.
It's the broncos section version of Dazza

Of course I think my opinion is number 1, if I didn't think I was right it would be strange. Where did I insult anyone? Can I help you find a safe space?
I see your point mate re: fullback, back row and centres. But hooker is also another position which needs strengthening and sometimes when you are fitting the pieces to the puzzle back in some pieces might fit in earlier than others but you have to take the opportunity. Brandon Smith 9 Turpin 14 for me energy from the bench.
Smith would be more suited to the 14 if your plan was to stick with Turpin after signing Smith.

Of the few games that Melb had B.Smith at hooker fulltime or even in stints when resting Cam, they dont look as dangerous.
To me his our version of Berrigan who starting out was phenomenal but once the years got on, teams shut him down cause he got too one dimensional.

edit: just because he does a fantastic job in the bench/lock hybrid role does not mean one bit that he is already an oustanding stand alone hooker now and will be long term. seeing some posts word for word echoing the 'tv experts'.

I'm kind of here too. Brandon Smith is a fantastic running forward who just goes balls out, but I don't think he's an elite hooker. Different to Berrigan in that Berro was crafty and scheming, whereas Smith is just a cannon ball, but the same energy and competitive nature. He's been excellent in that 9/13/14 role, but that's not worth what he's likely to be paid.

Im not sure enough people have seen enough of Brandon at hooker due to Cameron being in front of him. He is a quality hooker who will only get better the more he plays in the position

I think the truth on Turpin lies directly in the middle of the opinions on here.

He is a tenacious, hard-working true competitor with a mongrel streak and tries his guts out every game - I think we need more of this in the side, and his passion and ticker has endeared him to a lot of people.

He is also in the mould of the modern hooker and an example of the type of dummy half we need here to turn our attack around and adapt to the modern game, and I think this spark is in direct contrast to what we've all been used to for so long with McCullough, which also makes people very excited by him.

I think it's these things which people rate, more than his actual talent and potential as a player. I think he is probably a middle-of-the-road 9 option AS IT STANDS, but could potentially kick on to become a solid option.... Having said that, the kid is all heart and got a bit of dog about him - he should get first crack until a better option unseats him. Anyone who gives as much as Turps does on the field deserves a shot, because all the rest of the squad could learn alot from him.

He was like butter in Hell:

One thing I reckon we have to do is stop calling any of these guys hookers, I doubt any of them have ever had to hook for the ball in their lives, they are plain and simple dummy halves, some have more to their game then others, what do you reckon

Some are more dummy and less half....... *cough* Ben Hunt *cough*

Yeah but what's in a name? How many back-rowers actually pack in to the back row? Or locks lock the scrum? Do we call them edge forwards and middle forwards? What's a "half back", half way between the forwards and the back? Let's just call them the "organiser" and the 6 the "ball player". The centres aren't in the centre, they're just between the edge and the winger, so are they an inside back and the wing an outside back?

On that, how does the "five-eighth" name work? Starting in the middle, Hooker=1/8, Prop=2/8, Back-row=3/8, Halfback=4/8 (Half), 5/8=5/8, Centre=6/8, Winger=7/8, Fullback=8/8? Poor lock. But let's run with that. Every position is an eighth-fraction (except the lock, which we'll just call the Carrigan), and we'll have just one of each 1/8, 4/8, 5/8 and 8/8 and a left and right 2/8, 3/8, 6/8, 7/8.

For the bench, they'll be a "B" (bench) followed by the fraction. So the #11 we'll refer to as the L3/8, and his/her replacement will be the BL3/8. Unless it's forced through injury, and they're made to play out of position, so "S" Substitute comes in to play, so a player like Glenn who can be an L3/8 or a BL3/8 but also available as an SL3/8 or even a "B" lock so a Barrigan?

Yeah that's easy. We'll do that. Hooker is a stupid name. Anyways, who's up for that Brandon Smith guy, we really need a good 1/8, B1/8, Carrigan, Barrigan, or combination thereof.

Aaaaand another one bites the dust...

Why did we sign Mead and Copley and not someone like Gebbie? Will never know.
