Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

Oh god, this Chambers stuff is starting to gain traction. If washed up has beens is seriously the best we can do now (he will be the third in a row after Te'o and Luke), we better get used to being bottom dwellers.

I have little faith in media reporting and great faith that KW is going to turn us around. The larger picture, the admin side that is, I feel sure has received the message loud and clear and for me at least, 2021 will be a great revival with a few small hiccups.

‘We don’t have any space for anyone right now in the salary cap, so what we have on our roster is what we have,” Walters told The Courier Mail.

“I speak to Will a couple of times a year through our associations in Melbourne (where Walters was an assistant coach) and with the Queensland Origin team.

“We have a committee that make decisions on recruitment … Will is over in Japan playing rugby, that’s about all I know.”

Walters has said that out-of-favour duo Matt Lodge and Joe Ofahengaue will not be leaving the club.'

The scouts maybe watching all the games on Fox, but the media drives a player's value and there is obviously more eyeballs on a Thursday and Friday game than any other night on the week. As soon as a Broncos player has one decent showing, instantly there's headlines about three or four clubs chasing after them.

It's just the nature of the coverage of being a one team town and getting prime television spots. Even in the NFL they always make a big deal about teams performing well at prime time.

Just read a quote from Kevie that Brisbane can't afford to sign anyone else. I don't buy it, but where is the money going?

Anthony Milford - 1,000,000
Jack Bird - 975,000 (St. George are paying a sum of that)
Tevita Pangai Jr - 650,000
Matt Lodge - 650,000
Andrew McCullough - 600,000
Corey Oates - 550,000
Joe Ofahengaue - 500,000
Brodie Croft - 450,000
Payne Haas - 450,000
Kotoni Staggs - 400,000

That's what 6, 250, 000 of our cap not taking into account whatever amount the Dragons are paying on the Bird transfer.

2021 Salary Cap was supposed to be 9.9 Million so that leaves 3 275 000 between 21 players which is an average of 155,000. That will be higher with Bird's departure but that's not a lot of wriggle room, especially if Flegler is supposedly on 600,000 (they have to be taking the piss, right?)
Yep that makes me sick.

I wouldn't trust any contract values by the media. Most info "leaked" would be coming from managers, and it's in their interest to over-inflate so that those values seem like the norm.

Kevvie has come out saying we don't have much cap space even with bird leading. Also said Lodge and Offa are staying (I can only imagine because no one will pay anywhere near what we paid for them)

Going to be a rough couple of years I think. White and co ruined our cap with these ridiculous prices and stupid player options.

Yeah we are pretty much fucked. All these stupid player options and grossly overpaying for hacks like Oates, Lodge, Offa and Flegler has fucked us. Going to he a few years until we can put a decent team together.

so you believe what Kevvie says about the salary cap ... but not what he says about Offa

The mole is Hoops, it's pretty obvious by the language used I feel.

you seriously don't know who the mole is ... i didn't think it was a secret identity.

'Piakura latest symbol of Broncos-Titans way

Brendan Piakura is the teenager at the centre of the latest tug of war between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Fresh from poaching David Fifita – he will be unveiled along with Tino Fa’asuamaleaui next week – the Titans are among a host of clubs who have set their sights on Piakura, who has entered the final year of his deal with the Broncos.

The teenager is a Gold Coast junior who found his way into the Broncos system and was part of their first grade bubble this season. He was a star for the Queensland under-18s and represented the Australian Schoolboys.

Melbourne are also keeping an eye on proceedings, along with a handful of other clubs. The Titans’ interest is the most intriguing given the way they feasted on the Broncos by grabbing Fifita on a big-money deal this season, a move that signalled they were a serious player for southeast Queensland’s best talent.

Piakura has been earmarked as a long-term player in Brisbane’s second row, but the Titans may have a say about that. Warning shots have been fired.'

It's a complete no-brainer for Piakura to stay in Brisbane, he has a clear pathway to a starting 2nd row spot, as early as this season if he earns it. This is likely Glenn's last season and the only other noted second rowers on the roster are TPJ (who's future lies either in the middle or on a different team) and Riki / Palasia, who are both off contract after 2020 - one of which is very raw, the other of which is coming off an ACL and hasn't shown a great deal.

If he goes to the Gold Coast he'll be competing for minutes with Fifta, Tino, Fermor, Stone, Farmer and possibly even Proctor if they opt to keep him around.

Can you please go tell him that? Don't think the broncos have the brains to tell him that

Apparently titans chasing Hughes aswell , guess Taylor is getting the boot.
