Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

In all honesty there is only a couple of players that I would be angry about losing out of our entire squad. They are Haas, Coates and Farnsworth. Every other player in our squad is replaceable if you ask me.

If they want to go and chase bigger money let them. We shouldn’t be bowing to any demands from anyone apart from Haas. He is the only genuine super star we have that gives you a 10/10 performance each week

I've said it previously, but I'll say it again..I really don't get where all this Dearden to the Cows is coming from?
The kid has stated he wants to be a Bronco, he has previously turned down the Roosters to stay at the club. As far as I am aware, the Broncos are yet to table an offer to Dearden beyond 2021, so I guess it would be silly for him not to field offers, in the event Brisbane do not want to re-sign him (which I find extremely unlikely).
We have had both Walters & Lockyer come out this year stating that the club see Dearden as the long-term half of the club.
Add to this we have basically been told that Milford won't be around in 2022. Staggs might get the 6 jumper (if he sticks around), who knows what will happen to Croft for 2022 and you've also got Paix who they have been trying to manufacture into a 9 and from all accounts isn't lighting the world on fire in cup.
I also don't like our chances of landing Reynolds as I do not believe he wants to leave Sydney.
Now, that would leave us with Croft (if the club re-signs him) and Gamble as potential halves in 2022?
I know this is the Broncos and we have had some shocking R&R in the last few years but I would struggle to see those two as the halves who the club trot out in 2022. There is no other real half that is available for next year besides Reynolds.
I think Dearden is someone we have to persist with. He is still young and I think he deserves a red hot crack in the Broncos 7 jersey. It is also worth noting that this side wouldn't be an easy task for any seasoned NRL half. If we stuck it out with Milford for 3+ years of stinking it up, I think Dearden deserves the chance to learn and show us what he's got, at least until seasons end, or with a senior half pairing him.

We have just over a year to get our shit together, because Haas' last contract year is 2023 (I think). He can sign a contract with a rival club from Nov 1 2022. He is going to be offered a huge deal with whichever club he signs for. If we see a positive trend towards the end of 2022 he may just stay, if not he may be on the way out.

I'd be happy for us to seal the deal now.
He could well rival Fifita on contract value. His best and worst games aren't far apart and he is just going to get better and better.
He is the one bloke who rolls his sleeves up every week, no matter what.
He is a MUST long-term and imo all other players besides he and the Herbinator are replaceable in this squad.

I believe his contract goes to 2024

Playing him the last 3 years would have been a huge waste if Dearden goes. He's still a huge work in progress, he's not going to be leading a side around for at least another year or two.
The way I see it, if you've spent so much time trying to develop him because he had potential, don't waste it by not re-signing him. He's still got the same potential, he's closer to it now than he was in 2019.

Good signing Levi. His service is so much crisper than Turps, could be a real plus late in games.
Totally agree mate, he's like the Energizer bunny .. never stops, good out of dummy half and not bad in defence. Good signing.

These tweets always make me laugh. Do the players all act stunned and surprised when he tells them?
The whole thing just sounds ridiculous. Can you imagine the scene these idiots think will be playing out at the Sharks tomorrow or whenever.

*Chad walks into the dressing room after training, coyly worried about what he has to do next*

Chad: *deep breath* "Hey guys can I just have your attention for a minute? I'm not sure if you have been keeping track of the news lately but I have decided to accept a contract with the Cowboys from next season"

Wade Graham: "What? I had no idea, tell me this is a joke Chad!"

Toby Rudolf: "Nooooooo!!!"

*Moylan is in the corner rocking and sucking his thumb"

Dugan softly under his breath: "Chaddy no..." as a solitary tear runs down his cheek.

I’m indifferent about the signing I guess. Seems like another signing that nobody else wanted. I just don’t understand why we didn’t make a trade of Ofahengaue for Walters. We just continue giving away and paying for these players to play elsewhere and then other teams play hard ball when we want something from them. What’s the benefit of being the nice guys?

I don’t care who we lose, as long as we sign anyone of note to replace them. Reynolds is apparently going to the Sharks. The pieces are all starting to fall into their places and we are standing around dicks in hand yet again. I’m being dramatic but I can feel it in my gut that we’ll have a Croft and Milford halves pairing going into next season.

right now all we know is that the Sharks possibly are interested in Reynolds. but even if they are, they'll be behind the race right now, because reports also say, it could be weeks or longer before they really start looking at their roster with their new coach.

people just need to fucking relax and stop believing every damn thing that click bait artist Badel says

Levi had issues with the coach at Newcastle but he was a fringe player at Manly so I doubt DCE had much to do with it.

Believe it or not, he started in every game of 2020 for Manly...hardly fringe.
And yet they let him go knowing that serial bad boy Fainu would be MIA for all of 2021 too.

I'm really disappointed in that signing.

Danny Levi was somebody who Newcastle groomed for years hoping he would turn out OK and outside of the odd game where he just ran the ball he just constantly struggled at dummy half. He then made the move over to Manly and somehow he was even worse and it got to the point where he was being outplayed by a makeshift dummy half in Lachlan Croker who isn't much chop either.

I kept stressing the importance of the last two squad spots and it looks like they've gone to a player they could have just signed on a train and trial and a development player getting an upgrade because the club got spooked after losing Walsh.

Dearden isn't worth close to 1mil. Lol at the cows if they are throwing that amount at him, we'll cop it from the media for 'losing' him tho.
Not a bad deal if it's over 2-3 years.

I'll be shocked if he's only signed a year 1 deal for $1mil.... then again it's the cows so maybe not.
