if Staggs doesn’t sign in the next week I’d be offering him elsewhere this year. Same goes for Dearden and anyone else jumping ship. Surely there’s someone at the clubs they’re heading to that would fit in at our club?

I think you can take it as read that he is the only available option out of the halfbacks we have been discussing. Reynolds will go to Cronulla and Moses will stay at Parra.

If SJ wants $800K. but he has no other options and the Sharks are only offering $400K, I wouldn't go past $650K, and that will give us a little extra for a couple of the other spine positions. Two years with an option in the club's favour for a third year @$500K.
Tigers are another team that may enter the race for SJ.

He's not really what they need either, but could be an option.

Titans as well could enter if his wage is low enough. SJ with Fogarty would be handy.

That's probably it though... we can blow any titans offer out of the park, but if tigers come into the race then he wouldn't have to leave Sydney, however they have Hastings which may put that to bed

Someone mentioned the other day that SJ + Atay would be a good combo and I reckon that could work

I agree, i would be putting hard deadlines in front of blokes like Staggs and Coates and anyone else who is entertaining the idea of leaving and playing elsewhere.

Lets clean out the place and start with the people who are here solely for the paycheck.
These dickheads who gave us our first spoon need to be told that if they dont sign by the deadline, then our offer is pulled and they can find another club.
Good luck using us as negotiating leverage without an offer from us. (looking at you Dearden).

can anyone remind me of a time in this clubs history when the broncos were chasing NSW halves?
Peter Wallace, pretty sure we chased Johns a few times, Mundine, wasn’t Todd Carney an option at one point? Maloney was definitely spoken about. I remember a big push from BHQ for Trent Hodkinson. Cody Walker too. And of course, Luke Keary.

Looking more and more likely that we lose Staggs and Coates. Report has come out that a broncos player told Fifita to leave the Broncos because he would develop quicker. Can’t help but think that was Boyd.
Based on what? We all know you can’t be trusted with your takes on Boyd. Remember when nobody at the club liked him? But now they’re taking career advice from him. You’re all over the place

So in the past 30 years we have chased a total of 5 - 6 NSW halves.
This year alone we are chasing 3 - 4.
Sad times.

Staggs is a must for me. You need game breakers like that. We win against panthers if we he is on the field. We have no fire power and he’s our last gun. Sad times at the donkeys 😢
Staggs is only a must if he’s all in on the Broncos on a reasonable contract, and that contract is signed by the end of Donaghy’s first week at the club.

Probably because no good current Queensland halves want to come here because we overlooked them as juniors.

I wouldn't completely write Gamble off just yet though. He's an older rookie like DCE, Cody Walker, Jahrome Hughes, Jamal Fogerty and Damien Cook (or even Shane Perry, but that was a different era)

It might work, but it might not. But we may as well try it. The fact he's listed at 6'2 like Munster means you could put Milford, Niu or Isaako at centre beside him.....if it works.

Gamble will do well in the short term i think.

Who gives a flying **** where our halves are from?????

If they can get us out the shambles we are currently in, I’d take a whole team of Melburnians

beggers can’t be choosers mate

Gamble will do his job that is his greatest ability. It’s whether Milford can get us some points.
It's not just solely Milford's responsibility though. Every half chance should have at least 1 player in support screaming for the ball.

I can't remember off the top of my head a single bronco running in support on a half chance since Gillett played.

For a left-field idea that won't break the bank... what about luring away someone like Adam Clune?

He can't crack first grade at St George behind Hunt, so he may be keen to look for an opportunity elsewhere.

To me, he's shown glimpses of being a very good half - he's had some good moments and although he's a bit of a late bloomer, I think he could continue to develop. He would likely come very cheaply and is also a pretty solid defender.

Thoughts?

He looks like Ben Hunt, so that might help Milf.

Yes I hope gamble does well after getting knocked out in the first minute of his first game for the broncs. Gee he reminds me a lot of a former broncos player Nick Emmett who played centre. Is he related to Tom Gamble ? The betting agencies will be hoping he hangs around for a while too, just in case the viewers need more reminders. Yes I can hear the commentators telling us how responsible Gamble was for setting the first try or scoring it even at very good odds too.
