Because Bennett is behind the scenes doing one thing - recommending not to drop cash on Reynolds beyond a year - while in the media saying another. Who else but the coach would be assessing his value?

According to...?

He and Souths are still in negotiation, but at the same time he's very publicly talking to other clubs, or at least the media is making it public. This isn't that far removed from what's happening with Staggs, and what happened with Fifita. Maybe the sticky points are different but it's still about moving and money.

Actually, in Reynold's case it's only about money. In Staggs' case we're being led to believe the club has to sell itself to him because they've failed so miserably to provide decent halves for him to play outside. In a way, Staggs is making the club work on itself, rather than buy him with cash alone.
It could not be more different.

Souths have offered Reynolds one year, he has said he wants more than that and as such is sorting out his future elsewhere. He has been upfront and transparent about that.

Staggs has had our offer for months and keeps pushing a decision back and saying he needs to see who re-signs or signs. Has gone from telling people he is staying to apparently not anymore.

Completely different.

Staggs: refuse initial offer from club. Check
Reynolds: refuse initial offer from club. Check

Same same, but different

Yes, you’ve names literally the only similarity. Though even that is questionable because Staggs hasn’t refused anything yet, he’s just not agreed.

Reported on Triple M saturday scrum that SJ flying up to Brisbane to meet DD today. Go figure lol.
So is their meeting just a split second wave as their flights pass in the air on route lol. The media showing again that they know nothing. Covering all bases. If we are flying down to meet Reynolds we can meet SJ the same day, also don't believe the Staggs story. The media just attaching this with our obvious hunt for a half.

Parra met with Gags, no way they can put both Staggs and Gags in that team and be cap compliant. There would be no real chance for Staggs at 5/8 or fullback either. They are talking with Gags because they are not confident in signing Staggs, if we are not getting Staggs we would be talking with Gags.

Staggs is coming across to me as the sort of arrogant cockhead that the club can do without. Either you're invested in being apart of this clubs big turnaround or you aren't. If you are, then great enjoy the centre spot. If you aren't, then do us and the club a big favor and

How ? No one knows what the real story is, what are you basing your opinion from?

I've been thinking about this, and let's say there's truth to it. And it's more than just feeding the chooks to give them something to peck on. Let's take it at face value for the exercise.

What Staggs is saying is he's not happy with the current halves, like untenably happy, and that Kevvie has promised him something will change and he's called Kevvie on it. Something like that. Just go with me here.

So Kevvie has offered him a go at five-eighth. Maybe that means Staggs wants to move closer to the ball, or maybe it means he's unhappy with the current 6 and/or 7. So drilling down further, that means it's a case of either he goes or I go. Or it's a case of unless you sign A or B, I go.

Now we know there's some friction in the squad, and that as far as I can figure out Staggs doesn't seem to hang out with the other guys. So the question is whether this half he doesn't want to play with, is it professional or personal?

Since then Dearden has gone. Maybe that was a Stagg request. But he hasn't signed since then. That leaves Croft and Milford. Croft is likely to stay on, probably in the ISC. And Milford is anyone's guess.

The enduring question is if it's not purely professional, is Staggs' attitude part of the problem? I'm starting to suspect it might be.

I have no idea, just chucking it out there.

Staggs is waiting to see if the broncos spend heaps on a halfback so there’s less chance they can afford an expensive 5/8, which means he’ll get the gig.

It's his attitude. He said followed the Broncs since childhood, he said he wanted to stay.
Actions speak louder than words though.

Well that's another theory. I reckon Gamble will do as one half, but I don't want to pair him with a rookie like Staggs. Speaking of which, I wonder how Gamble would go at dummy half? He has the right tenacity for hooker.
