I've been thinking about this, and let's say there's truth to it. And it's more than just feeding the chooks to give them something to peck on. Let's take it at face value for the exercise.
What Staggs is saying is he's not happy with the current halves, like untenably happy, and that Kevvie has promised him something will change and he's called Kevvie on it. Something like that. Just go with me here.
So Kevvie has offered him a go at five-eighth. Maybe that means Staggs wants to move closer to the ball, or maybe it means he's unhappy with the current 6 and/or 7. So drilling down further, that means it's a case of either he goes or I go. Or it's a case of unless you sign A or B, I go.
Now we know there's some friction in the squad, and that as far as I can figure out Staggs doesn't seem to hang out with the other guys. So the question is whether this half he doesn't want to play with, is it professional or personal?
Since then Dearden has gone. Maybe that was a Stagg request. But he hasn't signed since then. That leaves Croft and Milford. Croft is likely to stay on, probably in the ISC. And Milford is anyone's guess.
The enduring question is if it's not purely professional, is Staggs' attitude part of the problem?
I have no idea, just chucking it out there.
