He needs to cut all the fancy shit out of his game, no offloads, slow things down and just do the basics right. Just run hard.

I was always on the fence about smith and thought he would only be a luxury buy however, i actually think he could be really good for this team (if we got hynes or other ball playing 1 as well). For several reasons:
- todays game is all about momentum. He is a momentum generator, he can provide that quick 10m run and quick play the ball to play off the back of, or get the opposition on the back foot enabling your team to wrestle the momentum back.
- he is damaging in defence and attack. I think turpin is great and he is a great hitter in defence but he doesnt have the same tenacity in attack that smith has.
- if we got hynes that would mean we would have 2 ball players and 2 runners in the spine which is a pretty good balance.
- he is good for team, club, fanbase and media moral. he is a character and a happy team is usually a successful team. He brings that cheeky attitude alf had/has.

He really shits me. Unless the attacker runs right at him, his defence is shit. He always goes for a jersey/collar grab, which given how tight the jerseys are, rarely works and looks completely pathetic when he misses

Flegler wasn't horrible, but I don't think he was good either. Next year is make it or break it for him IMO, he'll be 22/23, he needs to live up to the hype and faith the Broncos put into him.

That's the key though, he's still so young for a prop and is learning by being thrown in the deep end. He should not be a starter yet but we just have no depth to allow him to stay and learn from the bench. I still reckon late this season, early next he is going to explode.

Oh for sure. I am not saying he was great, he wasn't but he certainly wasn't bad. He isn't ready to be a starting lock and leader so he is playing like a kid who is out of position and currently a bit out of his depth but there are just moments in games where you can see what he will be, he just needs time.
